First look at CFTO RF9 tonight, here in the eastern end of Lake Ontario. I often see CBLT RF20, but it's good to see a VHF channel from the other end of the lake. Also very strong signals coming from Watertown tonight. RF35 the LP FOX affiliate is driving in at 80+ tonight. So is WWNY, which is usually in the low 60's. Still trying for the Vermont channels, but no luck, as of yet.

You will probably see CFTO RF9 often.... is seems to have a very good eastern reach. I'm very pleased with their transition.

I briefly caught RF22 WCAX from Burlington yesterday.

Yes, I also see that one, from Vermont, from time to time. Next time you see it, try for RF14 from Plattsburgh. It often follows WCAX across the Adirondacks. You should also give the Albany stations a try too. They are further southeast, but there is a few of them that are receivable. Try RF 34 and 43.

Getting good results out of the east tonight. Most of the Ottawa's are in, plus getting RF23 and RF18 from upper New York State. First time that I've been able to get the WWNY/WNYF repeater, up near Messina. It was in at 65% with WNPI. Still no luck with Vermont, but still trying.

There was some definite tropo last night. I was receiving weatheradio stations (162 MHz which is not far below channel 7 in frequency) from Elgin County and northern PA

I was pulling in ION and WBBZ (first time on that station) last evening. Nothing else was coming in, tried a couple of times to rescan, but nothing other than the above was making it to my TV.

CKWS RF11,

Late evening on Aug 31st did a scan with my CM7000 converter box. Noted CKWS 3-1. Went to it and watched some of the news out of Kingston.

Note: this box has no analogue reception capability, so CKWS must have transitioned by the time I scanned. Unfortunately, it doesn't report "real" channel numbers, only the virtual ones..... :-(

Antenna is a CM4221HD (unmodified) pointing north-east.

You were probably getting 30.1, the repeater near Brighton, Ontario. About 110 miles from your location.

I got 13-1 CKCO last night for the first time ever since the digital conversion. Was that due to Tropo?

Good tropo coming out of the east this morning. WCAX, out of Burlington, Vermont, on RF22. Also WPTZ out of Plattsburgh, NY on RF14. Also two of the three Elmira, NY stations on RF18 and 36. RF 34 and 43 out of Albany were also in strong. Still scanning.....

Hi,
Over the summer period I have exceptional results receiving channels from Buffalo including ION (normally at 100% on my Samsung, and at least 80% on HD Homerun). I have a db8 mounted on a tripod on the second story roof of my townhouse in Richmond Hill (Yonge & Hwy 7 area). I use a Channel Master 4 port distribution amp, and nothing else. I have aimed the antenna at Batavia NY, since the family loves watching ION, QUBO, and not much else. As an added note, I often pickup Rochester as well, and sometimes Syracuse. I believe the distant stations (Rochester / Syracuse), are do to atmospheric conditions. However, ION in Batavia is another story.

Over the last week, ION has gone out, but is back in Today with the warmer weather. I am wondering about the troop effect though. Is it possible that the low temperature does something to the metal on the antenna, or even the cable? Especially when it comes to ION, I wonder if it is more of my setup. I imagine the db8 materials are fairly low cost (even though the antenna is a higher grade than most). Has anyone experimented with a different material for the antenna, or possibly extra shielding on the coax cable? Now that CBLFT-DT has stopped broadcasting on 24, i no longer believe it is interference from 24 that is causing the problem.

Cheers,

Jeremy

I was just picking up 8.1 & 8.2 from Rochester. ION was coming in too, but I have completely lost 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 & 49.1 & 49.2 which I have always received.

What's going on over Lake Ontario?

We've lost almost every US station tonight. NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, MyTV. All gone. These stations are usually completely solid for us.
