WBBZ is 24.5/30 on the Hauppauge Signal meter. I've got no relative measurement from a prior period since I just setup this new card/htpc.

Did a rescan this morning and was pulling in WXXI (1,2,3) from Rochester. First time for me.

I also got WXXI for the first time, both on my TV (Panasonic LCD 42") and my ChannelMaster converter. Also got ION (51) for the first time. All this was because I hadn't been able to get TVO since it switched. Been typing in 19-1 every day and getting no signal. Didn't want to rescan because there's no "add" feature on the TV rescan. A rescan brought in 19-1 at 100%, tied with CBC for strength. CTV 9-1 is very shaky.

Anyway, a question: Why does typing in a channel work sometimes, but other times a rescan is needed? What does the scan do that typing in the channel does not do?

I got WXXI plus subs last night and it was about 60% strong. It's funny on how I can only get WXXI from Rochester but not the other networks from that area. I guess PBS is the strongest out of all the networks.

I lost it again.. Arh!!!! Anyways only a couple of days left to see if it gets better.

Been watching this forum for a few days with interest as I haven't been able to get 67.1 for quite some weeks now. Just a while ago I did a "Add Digital Stations" scan with the antenna pointed at 185 degrees SSW. For the first time in a long time it got 67.1 through 67.4. All except 67.4 (12%) came in at 16%. It had a lock on them and the picture appeared stable. Wonder if it will last!

It may be hard to judge how the digital transition affects us until the end of this up coming weekend. The weather is forecast to become autumnal.
This will likely be the end of any tropo we have been seeing solid for more than a month.
Remember the Spring when the reception was remarkably terrible?
There was a day when I could not get a single digital channel.

I'm getting WXXI on RF16 at 88% and WUHF on RF28 at 91% suddenly. I have NEVER received either of these channels prior to today :\ And they only just appeared about 15 minutes ago.

Yeah the tropo is making it hard to judge the transition. But I sure do love it!

Today I got CKWS-HD on 30.1. I think that's around Kingston area.

RF30 CKWS is repeater in Brighton.

Tonight I'm getting a bunch of channels from Buffalo and Rochester that I've never received before. And that's on my dinky little indoor antenna. Could this be related to the transition somehow?

AlanO it is really just that today's DTV Transition cutoff date coincides with some prime Tropospheric Skip conditions in southern Ontario and southern Quebec. Tropo and Ducting phenomena can result in some amazingly long distance but short-lived TV grabs, so quite a few of our members almost consider it a sport. :) As most of Canada's old style analogue TV transmitters go dark it is effectively "cleaning up" the TV spectrum of some old forms of interference so the effects of Tropo and Ducting are enhanced even further.

If the reason I'm now picking up ION (since this morning) is due to TROPO, I'll be soooo peeved!

Well, after receiving ION since this morning it's now gone. :( However, OMNI2 might have taken over as if I input 51.1 it transitions over to OMNI 1 on 69.1.
