Great game..sucks to be Canada but..

I was pulling for Canada but its hard not to feel happy for a bunch of Russian kids who pulled victory out of defeat over and over again in the medal round. They were beyond overjoyed and you also got to see in the extreme closeups of their faces just how young they are. We should not forget that this tournament features young people who could be delivering your paper...

My favourite game was the USA/Canada tilt. The Canadians tried to play an aggressive forecheck game that requires a lot of skating and hitting. I really think they ran out of gas in this one from all the exertion that style of game takes. You could see it near the end of the second that many of the lines were heavy legged and trying to get back to their zone after losing the puck on the forecheck was harder and harder.

Gotta love JR. hockey. I am a season ticket holder for the Ottawa 67`s and anyone who follows it knows..NO lead is safe. hee hee...and it was proven in the championship game.Congrats to the Russians..full value for heart and competitive "never say die" attitudes.

It seems all that I read in the media is that Canada didn't do this; didn't do that and that's why they lost! Maybe, just maybe, they lost because the Russians WON! I don't think the Canadians sat on their lead (unlike the Swedish game), they had no way of knowing the Russians were going to come out in the third period firing on all cylinders. After the second goal, when? -17 seconds apart? -the Canadians were too shell-shocked to even panic. And yet, I read tonight that the Canadian coach waited too late to call a time out, as though that was another reason they lost. No, I think the Canadian boys did themselves proud and I think they had a pretty good coach.:D

The second goal was 11 seconds after the first one--they were even more shell-shocked than you thought they were!

Sometimes a timeout will help a team stem the tide, but in this case it didn't work even when the game was 3-3. I too thought they should have called a time out after the two quick goals, but after I found out that the coach gave the team a pep talk between the second and third periods, I don't think it would have made any difference when they called the time out. The coaches noticed that the team wasn't playing very well in the second period so they gave the players the pep talk between periods. They should have had a nap instead!
