I have MTS TV Classic using the RG2400V box, and I mainly watch using S-Video and that works great, sound is full stereo too using the composite cables.

However, I notice when using CH4, CH8, CH11 (or my VCR) the sound from the COAX output is only in mono. I've tried a couple different COAX cables, directly to the TV and through my VCR but it's always mono.

Is this normal for this box?

Yes, the output of almost all STBs is mono when using the coax output (from all manufacturers). You'll get stereo on your VCR if you connect using composite video and Red/White audio. This will only work for channel 4 when attached to the STB.

Also, the Classic box has an optical audio connection if you have a surround system.
