It seems to me that Dexter is getting more and more far fetched. The show is starting to become unbelieveable. There is just to much stuff mounting up against Dexter for him not to get caught. Switching out DVD's in the Police Station, killing and disposing of a body while two detectives are next door looking for the person they just murdered...

Excellent Season Finale...but I agree with folks' complaints about the plot and about the shoddy police work that the writers' always use to let Dexter get away with it...

Dexter is now more about character exploration then about tight exciting plots like it was in the first 2 seasons (still the best 2 seasons !).

P.S. The photography in the scenes of Julia Stiles on the boat near the episodes end was fantastic. I never thought of Julia as hot..but now I worship the goddess that is Julia !

I don't know if it was excellent, but it was pretty good. The editing was WAY off on the car crash, one moment it was upright, the next, upside down.

The thing that gets me the most though, is if Deb is so smart (and she is), then why does she not put two and two together and realize that Lumen is the vigilante, and Dex is the helper. Or maybe she does, but doesn't want to face it, but that isn't how it was presented. I just think that with all of the other cognitive leaps she makes, she hasn't made that one. I mean really, the victims are young, pretty blonde women, they are pretty sure one got away and is a vigilante with a helper, all of a sudden Dex has a young pretty blonde 'tenant', Quinn told her he thought Dex was involved in something shady, and she doesn't see it?

Also, I too thought that the nanny was going to turn out badly, but it seems she was just a way to give Dex time to do his thing. Perhaps that will happen next season...

Deb and Dex, the actors, just split up as a couple.

Maybe Deb doesn't want to put two and two together regarding Dex, but surely Quinn must know the big picture, although he now has Dexter's back. It will be interesting how that relationship develops next season.

My wife and I watched all 12 episodes of season #5 this past week. We both felt that it started off slow, but that by around the third or fourth episode it was hitting its stride. There were a few weak moments, and a few that really stretched credibility, but, overall, it was a pretty good season. Solid performances by Julia Stiles and Jonny Lee "Sick Boy" Miller.

Season #3, however, remains #1 in our books. :)

I agree with everything you said. Although I think season 4 is my favorite season.

... I think season 4 is my favorite season.A buddy of mine prefers season 4 over season 3. Each time he mentions it, I have to remind him that he's wrong. ;) :p

I felt it took way too long for the momentum to build in season 5. Still enjoyed it, however. For me, season 4 was the penultimate season!

You do realize that penultimate simply means "next to last" and has nothing to do with "ultimate".

And if season 5 is the last, then skypilot is correct, so far. ;)

There will be a Season 6, which may be the ultimate and penultimate.
