Sorry, hadn't seen it till now. I've only seen people discussing the CH 51 CHCH being live.

We do not encourage our members to rise up and complain en masse to broadcasters in situations like this. They are working their butts off during an extremely busy time so it is obvious that they are not going to drop what they are doing to reply to every complaint. Also there are Rules of the Forum here at this site that actually prohibit that sort of appeal for support to wage complaints, etc. etc.

Relax and keep watching the OTA Forum for upcoming new threads on the post-transition situations across Canada and what steps our members can take to resolve situations.

Next time you are up on a ladder painting a wall I'm sure you would appreciate if someone wasn't tugging at your leg demanding your time to vent at you.

cheers

While I agree with earlier comments re: "angry complaints" and "these guys are working their butts off", etc... If you do have a legitimate concern, comment, or complaint - send it.

Along the lines of the cliche - the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I worked 'front lines' long enough to know that management tends to cut in areas which isn't getting complaints. If staff are saying we need more resources and don't have the letters to back it up - management doesn't listen.

Professionals try and want to deliver the best service they can. Most, I've met, don't take these comments personally and use them as a tool. By all means - keep the emotion out of it, but legit concerns about service will usually HELP professionals in their field.

Having said all that - we should share our contact information about those involved in this transition and THANK THEM for their efforts and hard work. Complaints are one tool and a Thank You! is often used as another.

Yours truly,
Fred in Saanich.

Agreed, although the Manager isn't the one on the ladder. He/She is in an air-conditioned office in an office tower in a far away place.

We should be thanking (in some cases profusely :D) the broadcast technicians, and complaining only to the management of the stations, which are often large media companies. The broadcast technicians can only do what their marching orders from HQ are.

For those that don't know, CHCH is owned by a company named "Channel Zero".

CITS Hamilton has not yet transitioned over. They still have an analog signal on ch-36 as of 10AM.

What was the reason for CHCH to move from 18.1 to 11.1? I mean, really, they had the frequency and the transmitter power that were of much more use to so many compared to what it is right now. How does that move make sense?

Because 18 is not in the post transition plan. I think that Stoney Creek and the CN Tower are too far away from each other to have adjacent ATSC signals.

Does anyone know if CHCH on 51.1 will upgrade from 480 lines of res. to 1080 lines soon?

CTS has transitioned to digital RF36.
Also noticed City-TV is now digital on RF 31.

Getting good signal on Ch 36 for CITS-HD

Queens Quay - Toronto
100% Signal
85%-100% Quality (probably because of the streetcars)
Winston Churchill/Britannia - Mississauga
95% Signal
75% Quality

They also have programming info too. Their pre transition digital channel did not have any program info.

I noticed no difference in signal strength at all, same, just as strong as always. I think they now have a very slight power increase.

CTS RF36 coming in very strong today here nearly 110 miles away.
Stronger than I ever saw on RF35.
