I just went to check CHCH's website:
http://chch.com/index.php/digitaltv

It's down! Maybe their site got swamped with emails about signal reception, or maybe they are updating some data, etc.

The chch site is on again with updated date changes.

CHCH-TV-1 OTTAWA CH-22.1 AUG 31,
CHCH-TV-2 LONDON CH-51.1 AUG 22, 2011
CHCH-TV-3 MUSKOKA CH-23.1 AUG 23, 2011 AUG 24, 2011
http://chch.com/index.php/digitaltv
So, it still appears that London will change over to 51.1 today. Muskoka has been delayed until August 23rd/24th...

Still in analog. Maybe they hit a snag. I guess they have until midnight but earlier in the day makes more sense to me.

Yeah, you wouldn't think they would wait until prime time, but it's getting kinda later for that now!

4:10pm and CHCH 51 is still analogue. Starting to have my doubts they will make the transition today.

CHCH 51 is still analog right now.
My apartment causes the analog signal to have multipath. Does that kill digital signals, or do they ignore. Snow / weak signal is not much of a problem here. Just multipath.

You should be okay Marc as long as the signal is strong...they sure are taking their time, aren't they????

Multipath [aka: ghosting] can be a digital signal killer.

They might switch after Primetime so that it doesn't interrupt anything.
I find I can reduce the multipath somewhat, but not eliminate it. I hope thats close enough.

There is much discussion about multipath in the DHC forums, but I don't know exactly where to look.
Maybe you could do a search for "multipath' using the forum's search option.

Mild multipath will likely cause annoying pixelations and heavy multipath [signal+reflected signal] will simply cause the tuner to reject both signal paths and then you have nothing at all. It will require some carefull aiming to optimize the main signal path and minimize the source of the reflected signal path. Precise aiming usually calls for a very directional antenna.

The CHCH website now says that the London transmitter is back to August 31 again.

That's a bit of a downer...

Also keep in mind some tuners / chipsets can deal with it better than others.
So what might be a killer for one tuner, might not even phase another tuner.
So just because you can't eliminate it completely isn't necessarily the end of the world.
Won't know till ya can try.

Here's the last thread I remember discussing means of battling multipath.

This is my offering! Unconfirmed:

There were,.. as most of you may already know, several very significant storm cells coming off Lake Huron yesterday afternoon. Goderich is in the news due to extreme damages that their town had sustained from the F3 Tornado, but other areas further to the southwest also had some serious lightning and wind damages. Possibly, these storms have created some unfortunate situations [Personal and/or equipment complications] that have made it necesary to postpone the Alvinston tower adjustments.

There could be even more Severe weather on Wednesday!

Well, yet another disappointing scheduled transition to digital: this time it's CHCH 51.1 out of Alvinston,ON, which was supposed to convert today, which didn't happen. :(
Perhaps the recent weather had an impact?

The dates for CHCH London and Ottawa have been moved to Aug 31. The unofficial reason is technical problems.

The CHCH website is down at the moment with a SQL database error.

It would have been good to see CHCH-TV-2 (channel 51) covert to digital early.
Hopefully CHCH will resolve the technical issues when they begin broadcasting in digital on August 31.
