: 2010-11 NHL Centre Ice
Frank Booth 2010-10-09, 04:11 PM Tried to watch games last night and this year they are placing ads on the glass which is so distracting making the game hard to view. Is this a Bell issue or a network scam?
Anyone else not in favour of this?
That's not Bell, that's on the feeds. MSG is one of the worst.
leafplasma 2010-10-11, 09:48 AM Have you checked since yesterday? My guess is that the pins would not have been made available until the 7th in order to prevent previous season subscribers from grabbing the PIN and then cancelling Centre Ice. I believe the 7th was the first day that cancellations were no longer permitted.
You are correct I did receive my pin finally, thanks a bunch.
redskull 2010-10-11, 01:24 PM I think Gamecenter Live is actually better then Centre ICE on Bell TV. I have my 42inch plasma hooked to my PC as a second monitor. I watched Dallas/NYI on Saturday night in HD thanks to Gamecenter. I had the choice of either the NYI or Dallas broadcast in HD as well. Next year there is no question I will not be going with Bell for NHL Hockey. I will just sign up for Gamecenter, which is $70 cheaper then Center ICE.
It looks just as good as any HD game on Centre ICE on Bell TV I find.
mt99808 2010-10-12, 12:24 AM Who is your ISP? What kind of bandwidth are you using for these HD streams?
I'd have to guess that download caps would be a significant deterrent to Rogers/Bell/Cogeco/Shaw customers.
redskull 2010-10-12, 12:42 AM I have Bell Aliant DSL 7mbps, no download restrictions.
wingman75 2010-10-12, 09:55 PM Sportsnet is doing this now as well. Noticed on an Oilers game as well as a recent Sens game. Extra ad space for the networks. I hate it as well... thought it is better than what they are doing in Europe.
As for you guys not having pins, that sucks. Not sure why some would get them and other not? Strange...
redskull - I can't believe the games look as good via Gamecenter as they do via the CI broadcast... I have my system hooked up to my tv now, so will check it out.
oilking 2010-10-13, 11:50 AM Can anyone explain why Bell only shows certain games in HD when Shaw shows all games in HD.
tofinoguy 2010-10-13, 04:29 PM Shaw is not showing all games in HD - have a look at this thread:

It seems that the same games are available in HD both on Bell and Shaw, but Shaw's Centre Ice package has been riddled with technical errors and missed games.
Shednblues 2010-10-25, 10:58 PM I cancelled Bell's NHL center ice before the season started (after having it for 10 years) and I have ordered NHL Gamecenter on NHL.com. Here is why:
Bell Center Ice:
$210 + HST = $235
Cannot choose TV feed.
Payment goes to Bell who probably earns at least a $50 profit. ($210 - $159)
Does not carry every game in HD (limited by number of devoted NHL channels).
Gamecenter:
$159 and no tax.
Can choose either team's TV feed.
Payment does not go to Bell (I'm tired of Bell not offering a super sports pack)
Carries each HD broadcast as far as I can see and I can watch 4 HD broadcasts at once.
So I'll test this for a year and see how it goes. The games tonight looked pretty good on the computer and laptop. I'm happy with this so far.
lpearl 2010-10-26, 12:18 AM I stuck with CenterIce, because it included Gamecenter, and while it's nice to have Gamecenter as an option, it's nice to get an HD feed coming in clear when I want it.
You did know CenterIce came with free Gamecenter, right?

Yes I did. Had them both last year. I already said my reasons for switching not the least of which was a $70 savings.
wealthyfriends 2010-10-27, 01:45 AM GameCentre looks pretty good on a 40 inch TV with an average high speed connection too except the audio could be better. Not quite as good as TV, but watchable. It's very, very good viewed full screen on a 17 inch laptop.
marcb 2010-10-30, 12:28 AM I have been trying to get access code for several days, the link at bell tv online doesen't work, I've spoken to several unhelpfull people at bell but no one can help me out, most csr's have no idea what im talking about
marcb 2010-10-30, 09:57 AM I hope some bell employees monitor this forum, I've recieved two emails and had three phone conversations whith these "people" and they keep telling me the steps to get the access code but dont seem to understand when i tell them over and over that the link is not working,in fact i cant order pay per view or any tvonline service because of this, i even posted the result of cliking the link which clearly says the page is not found on their own web site .
sSure would be nice if these idiots would at least listen when you tell them something:eek:
Ex Agent EV 2010-10-31, 01:52 AM I hope some bell employees monitor this forum
Since this is an independant forum, and there is probably tons of discussion forums where you could post comments about BELLTV customer service, I doubt that Bell would monitor, or read every comment posted on these forums.
I know that BellTV corporate security is looking at the forum to catch any innapropiate comments from their agents, and they could apply displinary mesures for that reason.
dgour98 2010-10-31, 01:53 PM I had the same problem of not being able to log into Gamecenter... link was broken and kept returning to login page, page not found etc.
They told me to go to NHL.com, then log out if it still said logged in. Then log in from the NHL.com site and click Gamecenter from there. It worked.
moosefan 2010-11-05, 10:01 AM I know this has been discussed before but I'm still not sure why Bell NHL CI doesn't have MSG HD games this year again. The Flyers vs Rangers game last Night was only in SD, so I watched it in HD on Game Centre. Do other providers offer MSG games in HD? Why is it available in HD on Game Centre but not on on Centre Ice? I thought the dispute between MSG and the NHL was resolved at the end of last season...
wealthyfriends 2010-11-25, 06:47 PM I can confirm that the other providers are not getting MSG games in HD. If we started getting them it would be big news I would think.

Same as me, I've wasted 1h15 minutes with unhelpful CSR. Let me know if you got it figure it out

The issue i'm having is to obtain the NHL Gamecenter Live access code from the BELL.TV web site. The link brings me to a page not found links and no one at Bell.TV understand my request.
