Shaw, has released an iOS app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, that gives its digital cable customer the ability to order Video on Demand (VOD) movies.

Features include the ability to: search Shaw VOD library by title, new releases or genre; maintain a list of selections to watch in My Picks; and order movies and TV episodes for viewing.

Once the show has been ordered, Shaw users must still turn on their digital box and confirm their purchase.

Personally, I can't see any real value in this but in case you're wondering!

There is no value in this other than a talking point.

When you call them to cancel cable because you are moving to the much better looking "Telus Optik" service and point out you can program your DVR with your iPhone, the Shaw guy will tell you that they have an app too.

It's a pathetic straw grasp from a company which has not improved its technology, but increased its prices for years.

Pathetic.

This doesn't even program the PVR. Its simply a way to look at their VOD listings.
