Thanks. It was getting a bit crowded with the back and forth on Access and CBC.

Do we know anything on the 'others' as of yet? CJCO is also 'moving over', if I followed this thread correctly. Are there any plans of getting Sun TV OTA, or is that going to be a Cable/Sat-only?

No, Sun TV plan to shut down their existing transmitters and are going cable/sat only to gain subscriber revenue.

CJCO will likely be a "flash cut" to DTV on the same channel 38. The analog transmitter (Rohde and Schwarz) at the CFCN tower will be turned off and the new DTV transmitter at the Harvard tower will be turned on.

Transmitters for CITV are on the way with new microwave equipment.
CBXT also has their UHF stack up... noticed it today on the way to Looma.
Can anyone please confirm (with a CRTC or IC document) that CBXFT has applied for digital transmission?
Jon C. LeBlanc's digital status page has 47 AP'd for CBXFT.

There seemed to be a Channel 49 (Virtual 5.1) signal interruption here in Calgary today between around 11.00 am until 11.40 am. I called CityTV but there was no-one available who could explain it. I was transferred to various departments and unable to get a response. The receptionist who didn't confirm anything asked me if I had called my local service provider (cable company)??? I told her that I would call back later, and after having done so, she informed me that the Channel was Channel 49 and not 5.1! At this point I decided not to ask any more questions! What a shameful situation! :(

I had once called CBC Audience Relations about OTA trouble, and they also told me to call my local service provider. I said: "I did, and I'm speaking to you right now :-) "

TVlurker - Yes - and I imagine the reply was either silence or similar to mine.

FYI: Several posts on reception issues have been moved into the Edmonton and Calgary reception report threads.
EDMONTON: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=108468
CALGARY: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=81023
The current thread is for station technical/operational status only.
Cheers.

The two Axcera transmitter's and equipment have been dropped off at the site.
They are wrapped up with a bow and cannot be opened until Christmas morning. . .
Sorry guys, no pictures - you'll have to wait till after Christmas.
In all seriousness though, the proper HVAC still needs to be determined and installed so instead of opening all the packages and possibly contaminating the new equipment with dust and dirt, they will remain packed up.
266 days left till the analog shut off.

I am told that the new CBRT-DT UHF antenna will be installed on the CBC mast here at the Bowness site in Calgary by the end of this week and that the Channel 21 service will be in operation via the new Rohde and Schwarz transmitter by the 31st March 2011.

Nice update Bill! Any news on Edmonton? I would assume a similar timeline.

j0dest3r - AFAIK the Channel 42 English service antenna is already installed on the CBC Wye Road mast and will by now be connected to the Rhode and Schwarz transmitter or it's combiner arrangement. From an installation point of view this is ahead of the Calgary one and the only question of doubt that I would have is over the STL which may be via microwave or fiber optic cable. In the event that this has no problems, I would estimate the switch-on date to be ahead of that of Calgary say by possibly by 2 months at least and so a January 31st service date seems feasable based on the current information.

Billsmith that would seem to be confirmation about the word I got from some senior CBC sources a few weeks ago about CBXT and CBRT: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=1182468&postcount=306

Here's hoping all goes well!

Yes - Stampeder - agreed! My sources are more associated with the "lowerdowns" than the "higherups" so the info should be a good confirmation.

Here's hoping!

The UHF antenna is now mounted on the mast here in Calgary and it's transmission line installed apparently the work was done under very cold conditions. This has now been confirmed by my local CBC contact here in town and they are now awaiting the delivery of the Rohde and Shwarz transmitter.

It appears CFCN-DT is currently off the air. No signal received on any of my tuners.

Are you going to call them to see what is up?

Strange - I wonder if they are starting the installation of the new transmitter and needed to move the temporary Thales unit?? How long is/was it out for?

I have an attic mounted UHF/VHF Combo (new to Calgary, rented house - cant mount outside)

I noticed CFCN was out at 7:00am this morning before heading out to work. - On my TV I was actually getting a signal between 40-60%, which is normal for me for this channel - but there was no video or audio. - almost like the signal was still broadcasting, but nothing was being carried on it.

When I got home tonight the signal has gone completely.
CFCN has, until now, been solid for me, though weaker than the other two stations, since mid November when I mounted my antenna.

I'll see if I can find an email on their website and send them a note and ask.
