j0dest3r - I did also want CTV2 OTA as you did but when I enquired about it with CTV, I was told that the viewing audience size didn't justify the investment.

Thanks for confirming. 11am I checked again and it was back to 70+. I guess that is just the way it is sometimes.

As far as CTV2 goes, Rogers didn't have too much trouble putting up Omni in the first place and switching it to digital no less despite the 'smaller audience.' CTV/Bell are just greedy u know whats and just use the audience size as an excuse. That's fine, my eyes will be elsewhere watching their competitions advertising more! ;)

Because Rogers needed to be OTA to get cable coverage. CTV2 does not. For Rogers, no OTA means no audience, while for CTV2 no OTA means they only lose the OTA-only audiene, but keep the cable audience.

I guess I don't understand why the rules seem to be different for CTV2 are different than that for OMNI. Doesn't seem fair really.

CTV2 started off as a direct-to-cable provincial educational station, and has inherited the privileges accruing to such a station.

So the last snow storm CITV went out for a few hours, now today, CTV is out. Signal down to 34% due to the snow storm. I guess it depends on what type of snow is falling. I would have thought both with be affected being that they are both VHF-HI. Either time for me to try and get my antenna higher or invest in a very long handled snow brush! ;)

And with that, all six OTA stations here in Calgary now have their program data up and running.

Odd, I do not see program data for CBRT-DT on my LG ...

Just checked again at 1:30am and I'm still seeing it on the Vizio downstairs. However, there's nothing on a digital converter box I also have. So they may be having teething problems.

Always keep in mind that equipment can play a crucial role in whether you see program info or not.

I'll say! The wonderful Panasonic in the living room gets hardly any info whereas the Samsung in the bedroom gives pretty much everything. What's on now, duration, and what's next.

As rumoured, now official - Here is the application to increase the power on CBRT Calgary (CBC English):
https://services.crtc.gc.ca/pub/DocWebBroker/OpenDocument.aspx?AppNo=201205972
Power increase from 23,500 watts to 507,000 watts maximum ERP.
Height to be raised from 276.3 meters EHAAT to 350.8 meters EHAAT.

If CBRT-DT uses the same PSIP format as CBLT-DT (wouldn't surprise me if it did), a few of us in the CBC Network thread have been trying to diagnose the EPG issues. We believe there are 2 issues.

- some devices (like LG HDTVs) don't like the presence of CVCT
- some devices don't like EIT-0 not being the lowest PID in the range of all EIT PIDs

Both appear to be legal ATSC so technically CBC isn't doing anything wrong, although what they are doing is rare (maybe because other broadcasters know the issues these approaches incur (??) ).

Good news for Calgary and area! I'm actually surprised that the CBC is investing in OTA.

That's very good news. I've been having issues with CBRT-DT signal for a while.

Hear, hear. There's a huge hill in the centre-north of the city for OTA signals to overcome … the power/height boost will surely help CBRT-DT be more easily receivable for those who are on the wrong side of Nose Hill.
I am a tad disappointed there are not more technical documents to read in the CRTC application. :)

Had some time to go adventuring yesterday. Checked all the translators in SW AB: Waterton, Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek, Cowley and also Brooks. All are up and operational. Of course, the CJIL rebroad from Burmis is off the map.
As for Coutts and Milk River, you can get channel 4 analog - CBC and channel 28 digital or 3-1 / 3-2 which is CBS / CW Great Falls. That's about it for the time being. I see Sweetgrass has two more apps in for rebroads on 25 and 30 and hopefully they can get them on the air.
As for the Joplin DT rebroads from the top of MT. Royal - I am perplexed. Went as far as Aden on the border last night. The spectrum analyser shows there are peaks where 8VSB SHOULD be but are very weak and I could only scan KRTV in on 27. Would be nice if they could bump up the power on those. You sure can get CBC analog down there...
10 from Leth, 38 from MT Royal and 12 from Etzikom.

Well, I should get used to this, but there is currently no programming on CBRFT 16 (Radio-Canada) in Calgary. There is a signal but the screen is blank.
Is everything OK elsewhere on SRC in Alberta?
Tried calling the station (Edmonton, that is) but no one is picking up the phone.

OK, I've emailed them — well, somebody at audience relations, not sure who — and also called to leave a message … but the mailbox for the SRC Edmonton French newsroom is full.

OK, CBRFT 16 is back as normal.
