That's exactly what you would do Baslim. For some channels it's easy because the virtual is the same as the physical.
When CTS came on the air in digital this week, I just told a friend in Calgary with his Toshiba TV to enter 32-1 on his TV remote and voila, the new channel showed up.
Now it's not all easy because the virtual is not the same as the physical. Take for instance Global Calgary, you have to enter 41-1 on your TV remote for the TV to understand where to go. Once it has a lock, it will re-map to the virtual 2-1.
So far in Lethbridge, it's been easy because CISA stayed on 7. So all you have to enter in is 7-1 on your TV remote.
The only channel in Lethbridge that won't have the same physical as it's virtual is CityTV (CKAL-1) so when that transmitter comes on air, you will press 46-1 on your remote.

It's also worth noting that some TVs will not allow direct digital channel entry without a scan. (I already have a small 22" LG set up for 13.1, 17.1, and 46.1/2.1 when they arrive.)

In terms of CKAL-1, I won't be surprised if City doesn't set up the virtual for 2.1 in Lethbridge.
In Edmonton here, City SHOULD theoretically remap to 51.1 but it doesn't and I like it the way it is.

Actually the PSA's on City are saying that the new channel for CityTV is 17 so I don't think it is going to change.

Did a quick scan this afternoon, grabbed RF 46 clear as a bellYes, I'm getting them on 3 TV's. Had to switch the amplifier in for the Terk on the main system, however.

Does any one know why the PSIP for CJCO shows up as CFCN HD as channel 38.3 on my Access converter box? It is clearly showing omni programing, but claims the channel is CFCN. This is the only one that does this, all the others are fine. My other box, Zinwell the psip displays as CJCO but as 4.1.

Just got a report of 46-1 in Coaldale being received with a cheap indoor loop antenna.
Singal strength 100% no amplifier.

Now reporting:
August 24 for Lethbridge

I wonder if they've updated their PSA. It used to say "the conversion to digital on August 31, 2011 at 6 AM Mountain Time."

Omni analogue is down this morning. Perhaps it will be down for good just like Citytv analogue.

I'd say goodbye to OMNI and CTS in Edmonton. CTS is set to go off air tomorrow R&S transmitter techs are doing that conversion right away. Both will be up in digital before weeks end.
Big Looma antenna is the last thing we're waiting for in regards to CTV/Global. Half of the antenna is currently up. I'd sure like to see all four be up before the end of the week.

Mike FM - Is there any reason to believe that this will not happen? After all, the Big Looma gib has been mounted for a while now! Also all of the conversions in Calgary are done - although as of yesterday we still had two channel 4.1s that were confusing some ATSC tuners.

I just did a channel scan and a channel called "Jump" comes up on channel 5.2 in 480i and just shows a 10 second clip of a diver going into the water over and over??

That would be RF 30, CTS from the Astral tower in East Edmonton.
I would declare this testing. Verified reception from the corner of Whitemud and 99st.

Verified from Spruce Grove as well, loop feed coming in clear. It is being reported as 480i however.

If Calgary's experience is anything to go by, it will go on like this for about a day. Then, they'll turn the transmitter off overnight and come back in the morning with a 1080i HD signal with the proper PSIP channel number/info.

I am seeing 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, and 1-4. All have identical signal strength.

If you look closely on virtual channel 1-4, you will notice all the crates the man is moving are labeled: "Rohde & Schwarz".
