Emerald_Boar 2010-11-22, 07:45 PM I would like to point that Canwest owns the Paris site.
It would make more sense for Canwest to move 41 from CN tower NE, and keep for Fort Erie site. Then to move the Paris site.
BTW, GTN From Paris comes in fine for me. Currently, I am using a y5 2-6 in the attic (15' HAAT).

stampeder 2010-11-23, 01:43 AM mr.eous, we are seeing across Canada that there are stations from most or all of the networks that are relocating as part of the transition, and clearly for those stations a co-ordinated and budgeted plan is what does the trick. A look through the IC database shows quite a few DTV stations that do not match the site of their corresponding analogue station.I think a few of these and other suggestions are oversimplified; if only it were simple to just move TV transmitters from one site to another...Nobody here said it would be simple.

How so? What site would you recommend they move 41 to? The CN Tower was built to fix TV and radio reception in downtown Toronto. Moving their transmitter NE of downtown would kill reception for a whole lot of people.

Most of the stations that are moving locations are being done to move the transmitter to the tower owned by the parent company, so mr.eous does have a point that CIII wouldn't want to move, even if it would be better for viewers.
This doesn't apply to TVO however, and with the migration from analog to digital, now would be the time to move as they are making a bunch of changes anyway.
Emerald_Boar 2010-11-23, 05:29 PM @Roger1818,
My point was, I dont think Canwest will move from the Cn tower. And since Canwest owns the Paris site. It makes no sense for them to move from Paris site.
The best thing i can hope here in London. Is that Canwest moves Sarnia to CHCH site. But then again its pretty unlikely that will happen.

Yes, there would be some logic behind that, but you are right and it likely won't happen. I suspect GlobalTV owns the Sarnia tower, so that would be the same situation as in Paris.

The former Canwest's assets are now part of Shaw Media. But I get your point.
For those worried about reception around London, I would contact Shaw Media directly. Shaw is on the record stating that they intend to improve and update their conventional broadcasting infrastructure. Tell them you've seen their comparative coverage map, and it has you concerned.

To that end, there are contacts for people with GTN in Shaw Media, but they all appear to be publicists. In any case, if you want to contact them, addresses are here: http://shawmedia.ca/contacts/media. I'm writing them an email as we speak.
Mike FM 2010-11-25, 11:22 PM The Red Deer Channel 6 Larcan left the site yesterday bound for Paris.
It will be set up and fired up as an analog/digital hybrid transmitter with an internally diplexed output.
I'll put pictures in the pictures thread of the transmitter as it was before it was dismantled to be moved.
micah 2010-11-26, 12:34 AM Looking forward to them!
downbeat 2010-11-26, 12:39 AM He's already posted them:

Jase88 2010-11-26, 04:31 AM So this means they can remotely switch over to digital at the time of transition?
You can say CHCA-TV is being re-born...in Paris, Ontario.
impei 2010-12-04, 11:42 AM Any idea if they will be broadcasting digital from the Paris site before the Aug 31 deadline?
micah 2010-12-04, 12:26 PM No kidding! If they have all the gear in place, why wait?
Jase88 2010-12-05, 01:20 PM I didn't read anything within the Paris filing to indicate they intend to switch to digital early. Typically a station indicates specifically in their application if they intend to switch early--and the Commission acknowledges this in their approval. The station is then asked to present announcements on their station to advise viewers.
