Jay Leno is looking good in HD on CTV2. OK, I should say Jay Leno's Tonite Show is looking good in HD on CTV2.

I am getting the pixelation on 16.1 (funny, I can't get 26.1.) I find however that I can only achieve about a 63% signal strength from CTV 2 Windsor and I am in Amherstburg using an outdoor antenna with an amp and a rotor. 9.1 CBC on the other hand is coming in at 100%!

Since CKCO 13.1 (Kitchener) switched to digital, I've not been able to receive it in London most of the times I checked these past couple of days.
CKCO's 12kW ERP may be a little low... probably needs more and higher level signal towards London.
As another option, since Bell Media owns CTV Two (CFPL) London, maybe they can put up a rebroadcaster on the CFPL tower?
I think this would be great for all London & area residents ;)

BCF, if you want a local repeater, asking here isn't going to get it. Give them call or an email.

But, speaking of 13.1, it has been rock solid for me. What antenna/amp are you using to pick it up?

I called CTV 2 Barrie (CKVR) Engineering about the status of the repeater in Hamilton,
and was advised that it is not yet operational, and there is no due date established yet.

I am receiving CFTO on RF9 and CHCH on RF11 at signal strengths which are significantly lower than they were with RF40 and RF18 on my CM 4221 (original).

My 4228 (original) does not receive either 9 or 11 right now - I may try relocating it if the situation does not improve.

Your best results will be with a Hi VHF yagi to receive those stations. A UHF antenna simply does not recieve VHF signals that are distant to your location.

I have the newer 4228HD which actually does quite well on VHF HI.

Mine reliably picks up RF10 & RF13 out of Rochester 62 miles away from me.
And now getting very good signal with RF9 CFTO and that is 85 miles away.

So in Oakville you should have no problem. Though you are so close i'm surprised your older 4228 isn't good enough.

CTV Ottawa says the pixelation on CTV2 channel 43in Ottawa has been isolated to the link that feeds the transmitter site, and they are working on a solution.

My guess about my 4228 having problems with RF9 and RF 11 is that being in the rafters of the garage is the problem - I gather VHF signals have issues penetrating structures that UHF signals pass through easily.

I have been intending to get the 4228 outside for some time (my 4221 is on the roof).

My goal has always been reliable HD from Buffalo. I always received Toronto HD with no issues before the transition. CTV and CHCH reception is nice, but I doubt I will invest in a dedicated VHF High antenna anytime soon.

Here in Markham my CM4221 (original, not the HD version), fixed at South Buffalo, I am picking up CFTO-DT, rf 9, consistently at about 95 - 99 %.

Very relieved indeed ! :)

I purchased a YA-1713 and that fixed my VHF problems, but it's really directional so you have to aim at the station you want to recieve to get a reliable signal.

A day has gone by so I'm guessing CHWI is at full power. I got it somewhat this morning, but now it will lock for only a second or two then drop.

I sent an email to the engineer asking if they could ask the CRTC for a power increase. Even a kilowatt may be enough for me to get it locked full time.

Picking up CFPL (CTV TWO) on 10-1 here in Sarnia in 1080i.

It be nice to find out exactly what CFTO and CKCO are transmitting at? Are they at full power of 10.8kW and 12kW respectively? Or, in the case of CFTO, are they transmitting at their Average ERP of 7.2kW? I still go back to their test night on August 23rd, when the signal of both channels were over 20dB, whereas tonight, I get neither (coming in around 8dB). I understand the weather is damp and all, but if their signal is that volatile, then they have issues. I mean, if I can pickup MyTV and a blip of ION then these, especially CFTO, should be flamethrowers.

I think we should factor in that the power levels may be lowered at night for next 1-2 months while they work on re-tuning the antenna's for Rogers.

Marbles00, send them an email from the contact form on their website to ask about the transmitter status.

(Note that should a station ever apply to the CRTC for a parameter changes because of poor coverage within their official coverage area, they often submit letters and emails from listeners/viewers who complain about spotty coverage.)

I've been trying to make this point in several threads. For VHF stations, the engineering model used is not correct. Stations wishing to make changes need to know a) the scope of the problem, so that b) they can calculate what to ask for. They must also c) demonstrate minimal additional interference to others.

Also, you have to use the right reception equipment to recieve Hi VHF, not a UHF antenna.

right reception equipment to recieve Hi VHF
For CFTO, I'm using a DIY Channel Cut YAGI tuned for RF9. It was picking up analog RF9 very well.

For CKCO, when analog, I was using a Scatter Forager DIY antenna, and it was receiving the signal very well...better than RF9 and the Yagi. But since the transition both channels have been up and down like a yo-yo. I'll admit though, I could change the Scatter Forager for a true VHF antenna tuned for RF13...maybe then, the signal would be a reliable lock.

In 2009 Industry Canada allocated a few HUNDRED Kilowatts for CHWI and they're 3,400 watts ERP right now.
