I agree CJNT is hard to get in Pointe-Claire. I know a friend in Kirkland who can't get CJNT at all.
CFTU is only transmitting at 450 W (ERP). I'm guessing that when CFTU will have their new antenna up on the top of the U of M tower and when the constructions will be over, they will increase the power of their transmitter to the legal limit (4 kW).
Until then, we will continue with the weak signal available at the moment.

last evening, lost CIVM (17.1) a moment. it comes back today, the signal gets 85% (same like before).
I guest they are working in antenna.
WVNY (ABC22) becomes a little bit weak (72%) than before, maybe the weather is warm.

Nope, CFTU only applied for 450 watts (average) ERP.

18.1 is availiable in west island?
2012-03-17, 08:31 AM
Cannot get 18.1 here. Maybe I must adjust my antenna direction.
anyway it's another pbs.

Since the warm weather, the signal of 22.1 and 15.1 is effected. In the morning, I lost 22.1 and 15.1 partly.
2012-03-21, 03:44 PM
Same here for me with 22.1 and 15.1
2012-03-23, 04:56 PM
after 8pm, 22.1 signal becomes strong. (over 75%).

Finally managed to receive WVNY (ABC-22.1) @ ~65%, but needed to go to the roof of my condo at ~45ft+ using a small VHF antenna (Delhi/Wade 5Y13S). I tried previously with the famous CM-4221HD and CM-preamp and could barely lock ~35-40%. Thus, the lil VHF antenna through 80ft of RG6 bested the preamped CM-4221HD by a longshot! As a bonus, I could also receive nearly all the UHF channels (though only ~40-50% non-preamped)!

for my position, 15.1 gone completely. 22.1 are still stable in all day.
2012-04-20, 01:28 PM
15.1 come back with mosaic pixel. It's worst signal in my reception.
22.1 is still ok. I'm enjoy with it for NBA games.
2012-04-21, 11:00 PM
15.1 in my area is quite good, stable. Its strength is over 75% at night.

I watched NHL(same game live) on 6.1 and 5.1. The image quality on 5.1 is better than on 6.1. Maybe 5.1 is 1080i and 6.1 is 720p?
Well, I'm happy for you folks in Ottawa & area, if the Global #14 switch helps you, really.
Unfortunately for those of us in cottage country, around the St-Lawrence valley, US border, and Lancaster, ON, we can kiss NBC WPTZ-5.1 (#14) GOODBYE due to the unavoidable co-channel interference,
So effectively that will mean, ALL the Vermont-broadcast major networks will not be receiveable for that area, due the co-channel issue
the existing conflicts are (#13) ABC WVNY Vs CTV CJOH, (#22) CBS WCAX Vs CHCH, and (#43) FOX -WFFF Vs CHRO
Too bad, since WPTZ was the only reliable US network signal in that area for many years
Thank goodness we have WNYF-LD for CBS, & FOX.

Balm, I am curious if WPTZ was reliable before the Canadian analog shutdown, when CJMT was broadcasting on analog 14 out of Ottawa. Granted it was at a lower elevation, but it would have been considerably closer (HC instead of CF).
Anyone able to lock onto ABC 22.1 once the Mont-Royal transmitter is down ?
I get 77% signal strength once the local transmitter is down, but can't get a lock once it is back on, anyone play with attenuator to lessen some of the signal strength for 10 and 12 ?
Yes, we used to receive WPTZ for the most part, when CJMT analog was present. We would occasionally lose it briefly, but it was generally the most reliable US network channel. Also, when CJMT closed, WPTZ didnt seem to improve. In fact it was the most reliable of all channels, excluding of course the LOS channels.
In order to receive any/all of those US channels there, the antenna has to be very low and directional. But I suspect TVFool overestimates the US channels and underestimates the Ontario channels received, compounded given the very strong summer tropo effects which seem to favor the Ontario channels. We often receive Ontario channels which TvFool shows NM's in the -10's to -20's dbs.
Right now, WPTZ NM is 8 dBs. I dont remember what CJMT analog NM used to be.

Well, we will have to wait and see, but I wouldn't assume that CIII-DT-6 moving to 14 will cause you problems with WPTZ then.
Regarding your other conflicts, CJOH and CHRO have been on those channels for years, so you can blame the American stations for using bad channels. As for CHCH, while it is new, CBOFT-DT was on 22 for several years before that (certainly before the American analog shutdown).
Yes, as you know they are all quite a challenge,
I think the desired DTV co-channel needs to be at least 15dBs stronger than its undesired, IIRC...
This summer I might try stacking (horizontal) 2 commercial antennas for Vermont (LOWER), and 2 more for Ontario /Monreal (HIGHER)..I just havent been able to decide which antenna is best...(CM4228HD, HD4400, 91XG....) :D
EDIT: I know for my channel #13 co-channel issue (WVNY -ABC 22), a high strength cut-yagi with more than 30 dBs F/B & F/R ratios didnt solve the issue...but I think it was mentionned that VHF channels strengths are overestimated on TVFool to begin with....though not many members seems aware about this.

i have a CM4221HD that is mounted and running, getting PBS and fox and CBS. i should mention that im in Cornwall, on, got a CM7777 today, will this help me to get some channels from Quebec (tva, src, v, ...) Thanks in advance
