Hi Yuprules

I have the channel master 0264c on my mast.

Keychaine, looks like you have everything covered to get WFFF as best you can without removing your VHF antenna to see if it is too close to your UHF antenna.

If I were in your boots, that's pretty much all you can do. Also WFFF has dropped a huge amount of signal, I doubt you can even catch it anymore. I used to have 4 out of 10 bars, I'm down to 2 bars now!!!

youtch, I just swapped the brand new D1G1WAV3 4 bay antenna for the 30 years old CM4221.

well D1G1WAV3 shouldn't be allowed to write "antenna" on the box; the old cm4221 is a LOT better.

this antenna is for the kid's TV and I can tell the difference on the analog channels; somethings we won't be able to see when we completely switch to digital.

so the CM4221 can even pull ABC using a noisy Radioshack high gain preamp

the CM4228 is something like 250m above sea level; on a 30ft tower. I get everything available from MtMansfield including ABC22 (13RF) with a UHF only antenna. the kid's TV use a rusted CM4221 4 bay and get everything except ABC.

I get PBS33 as it's on the same mountain as all the Burlington stations. I don't have a rotor so the antenna is optimized for MtMansfield so PBS18 and PBS57 are out of question (I know I can get 57.x but never tried 18.x near cornwall)

Any of you are able to get 40.1 WNMN-DT ?

I see on TitanTV they have nice programming

(same for WWBI that we can't receive unless we bomb Télé-Québec's antenna)

Try the repeater on channel 52(analog) for Montreal.

Hi guys,

I've done a lot of researching and I still have a few questions...
I'm looking for a confirmation that I'm getting the right equipment. I hope some of you can give me a quick comment.

Here's is my TvFool:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3dcd7274dd2fba6a

I'm planning to get channels between 148°-166°, hopefully without a rotor.

My shopping list:

CM4228HD (hacked with two cm-94444 and a cm-3212 splitter)
CM-7777 preamp
CM-3214 splitter outside to connect coax from preamp to the four coax going inside
Slope tripod (foot pads?)
CM-3078 Roof Mount
50' RG6
Snap & seal connectors
Weatherproof Coax Boots (Electrical tape?)

I will have about 40' of RG6 from preamp to cm-3214 and then 4x 30'-35' of RG6 inside. There is a grounding block used by ExpressVu that I will reuse.

Will the preamp be too strong for the local channels vs the US ones?

Also, I'm concerned about the CM-3214 and want to confirm it will work with the preamp power inside the house. Does it allow DC to the preamp?

Please tell me if I overlooked anything.

Thank you very much!

Weatherproof Coax Boots (Electrical tape?)Hello, everything you need to know about waterproofing and weatherproofing is in this thread:

OTA Waterproofing, Sealants, Adhesives, Paint (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=104181)

With that strong preamp I think you will still be fine for the stations you want, but after some of them move to Mont Royal you might need to see if problems arise.

At this stage, it appears as if only TVA, CTV, SRC, and CBC will be on the mountain.
(These four stations co-own the tower, which is managed by the CBC.)
Both TVA(10) and CTV(12) will flash cut to lower powers in digital, so that should improve matters for WVNY on 13. You will still need a very good FM trap to help with channel 13, since any harmonics from FM stations on the mountain or downtown will kill WVNY. CBC and SRC will be higher power on UHF, but still lower power than the current analog TQ and V.

TQ plans to stay on the Olympic Tower, and V will probably also stay off the tower, but may add a fill-in transmitter to cover the west end shileded by the mountain.

No idea yet about Global, CJNT, or CFTU.

My computer must be too slow. When I connected it to my 50" plasma the picture was choppy and and very uncomfortable to watch.

Hi all,

I am in need of an antenna and would like to know if it will really work in a country house surrounded by trees. I have seen some at thesource ( i.e the round white one
OUTDOOR HDTV-UHFVHF AMPLIFIED ANTENNA ) but not sure which one would be best ( outdoors ).

I do not want those long ones , just looking for a discreet one like this one.

What channels can we get just north of Lachute , Quebec near the lakes ?
Much appreciated

I'm in Prévost and got the classic CM4228 with a CM7777 preamp and we get everything from Montreal, Sherbrooke and Burlington (and some Analog from Ottawa at the back of the antenna)

got everything in a Laval store on Boulevard des Laurentides.

Forget about the stuff from LaSource you are in a deepest fringe area and you need an extraordinary antenna.

Thx for response...

So you saying that none of those thesource.ca antennas (i.e 200$ ones ) will work where I'm located. I know i'm in the boonies :)
