Thanks for the headsup. This is a surprise. I guess I know what I'll be watching tonight. It is listed on TSN2's schedule now.

Not listed on the guide here :(

It's on the TSN2 guide on their website, most IPG's are logged days or weeks in advance, so a sudden change doesn't usually appear.

Yeah, it's also on that blogsite everyone keeps quoting, which I highly recommend every footie fan in Canada bookmarks.

It wasn't there yesterday. Throughout the late afternoon it was advertised on the TSN ticker. I didn't see it advertised earlier in the day. It seems to have been a last minute decision.

TSN doesn't have FIFA tournaments, only CBC and CBC Bold do.
Ah, I could have sworn TSN was involved, not with the World Cup but other tournaments. Thanks for the correction.

Someone told me that they announced on Fox Soccer Report tonight that Fox Sports World Canada will be airing the Sunday 3:00pm ET Ligue 1 match this weekend. It would make sense that they will air it the rest of the season because Euroworld Sports can't air it live (because of Seire A coverage). Also Fox Soccer Plus airs it in the States, so FSWC can just use their feed.

Just a heads up to everyone.

The Stoke-Villa match about to start, is listed as on TSN2 on the soccer in canada blog although theres no mention of it on any of the tv schedules or cogeco's guide.

When I checked that blog yesterday it said it was on setanta.

Nope. No Stoke vs Villa game apparently. Unbelievable. Once again the customer gets the shaft and absolutely NO explanation from anyone.

Maybe I'm going crazy but I checked TSN's schedule earlier today and I thought the match was listed for 3pm on TSN2. The postponed from Sunday US Open tennis match had to be accommodated by TSN, so Around The Horn and PTI are on earlier than normal. But I don't see how this should affect TSN2's programming, including EPL. Right now TSN2 is showing a documentary about the Little League World Series.

Is there still a limit to the number of hours of live sport TSN2 can show per week/month? Could that be the problem? Or maybe TSN just couldn't care less.

Is it just me our has Setanta's coverage of the EPL gone way down this year. I realize there is more coverage on TSN2 and Sportsnet1 this year but last year even every week day game was covered.

Last year when they weren't showing live games they would replay the rest of the games from the same day or show Coke League games. Now all I see is rugby.

Villa not being on tv today seems wrong at $15/month for Setanta

OK, so NFL Prime Time, which (I think) was supposed to be on TSN is now on TSN2. So because of the unexpected tennis match now being on TSN they've decided to move what was supposed to be on that channel to TSN2. But if that is the plan then why not just show the soccer match between 3 and 5 then put NFL Prime Time, ATH and PTI on between 5 and 7 on TSN2? I'm guessing it's because they want one of their two channels to show TSN's Sportscentre between 6 and 7 more than they want to show EPL between 3 and 5 and because ESPN shows like Prime Time are higher priority than EPL. Maybe they'll move the EPL match to TSN2 some time tonight when they're supposed to be showing poker.

The lack of coverage on TSN2 had nothing to do with tennis or football. ESPN in the US decided not to put the game on its English language channel (ESPN2) and only show the game on ESPN Deportes and streaming on espn3.com. Seems that with no game on ESPN2, TSN had no feed to show and just decided to erase it from their schedule.

Having said that, they should have known that ESPN was not going to show the match (it was well known as of last week) and dig in their pockets for the int'l commentary feed. But I guess that is too much to ask for a match not featuring one of the big teams in the EPL. The consumer gets screwed again. :(

Yes, so much for some being thankful that Monday soccer was on TSN2. How often will this happen and due to the rights being given to TSN we are now dependent on ESPN letting us see it. Better to have left it with Setanta but, of course, Rogers wanted the money.

Thanks. I just checked the ESPN2 schedule. There was nothing unusual on today to justify preempting the EPL. Maybe they just didn't think Stoke v Aston Villa was worthwhile.

This from Setanta Facebook which should be of particular interest to 'bucketo'

Hi Michael, I just got word that the "other channel" did not broadcast the match for some reason. You may want to contact them to find out why.

Jason, we had a total of seven BPL matches this past weekend. Our live and same day football coverage this weekend amounted to 16 hours. We will have a total of 14 Champions League matches over the first four days of the Group Stage. By the end of the period September 11-29, a span of 19 days, Setanta will have broadcast 24 live football matches and an additional 23 on a same day delay (47 live and near live matches over just 19 days!). There just is not a channel that offers close to this type of coverage. While we would have liked to make it 25 live matches over that period, we simply did not have the rights to today's match.See More

It won't happen again, except for maybe December 27 (ESPN2 has a bowl game). The only reason that it happened today was because of the reason that Hawk10 explained, which won't happen again now that Monday Night Football moves to its regular 8:30pm ET timeslot next week.

Andrew the reason was because ESPN had to (well didn't have to, chose to) air NFL Primetime from 2-3, ATH & PTI from 3-4, SportsCenter from 4-5 and Monday Night Countdown from 5-7. So as a result regular ESPN talk shows were moved to ESPN2. So there was a special reason why it was pre-empted, it just wasn't a very good one. Then again this is the same network that is joining the AFL Grand Final at quarter time in a couple weeks.

I thought that this is worth bringing up, ESPN US has signed Ian Darke to call its Premier League games for the next 3 years. He will be featured for both Saturday morning and Monday afternoon games on ESPN2 and TSN2.
