I just bought the Trek HDTVa antenna and try to connect to my HDTV TV. But there is no signal at all. I wonder if anyone has any success in getting the signal in the Orleans (Chapel Hill) Ontario area using this antenna and how ? Thanks.

To start, make sure that your tv source is set to antenna or air instead of cable.

I turned the source to TV and move the channel button up and down but still no signals.

You need to tell the TV to scan for signals first. There must be a menu item to do that.

Be sure the HDTVa is plugged in, also.

The TV auto scan the following channels 3/6/7/9/12/14/36/54/58/61. But Still no signals. My HDTV model is Toshaba DLP Projection 62HM196. Thanks.

All of the above.
-make sure the TV is set to Antenna and not cable in your TV settings. Otherwise the only channel you may pickup would be 13.
-plug the antenna in the TV
-A scan is required to see any digital over the air channels appear in your channel listing.
-antenna aiming will make a difference especially when inside. Place it closer to a window at first if it is your first scan, to make sure something comes up in the scan.

chiued, make sure you read pages 25 and 26 of your TV's manual very carefully. Depending on what you may have setup previously with the TV Guide settings or with a cable box, the terrestrial menu may be greyed out.

I read page 25-26 in the manual. I went to the installation menu and change the
ant1 and ant2 to antenna. Within the same menu, I chose the option to scan available channels. It took about 1 min to finish scanning. I then back out all the way go back. I go to the browse input, choose the ANT1, and there are 3 channels appear. I can now see these 3 channels, namely 4(CBC),11(CHCH) and 65(CityTV). Thanks a lot to tvlurker and all those who help me out.

Not that I am greedy, can I can more channels like CTV and CJOH ?
Thanks.

chuied, you can get more channels if you play with the antenna position, or move to another place (near a window for example) so it can pick up the outside signals better. You would of course get more channels if your antenna model was outside since the signal gets attenuated by your house walls and the other buildings around you.
EDIT: don't forget to scan again to pick more channels. (some TVs have menu to "add scan" of some only can redo the big scan)

For CJOH, and CBOFT, make sure you extend the VHF dipoles of the Terk Antenna. I find the dipole rabbit ears part of this antenna does not work particulalry well. also, becasre full with it, because if you extend the rabbit ears horizontally, chances are the whole antenna will fall over!

You don't have a chance in Orleans of getting Global with an indoor rabbit ear antenna.

If you're geting CITY but not the OMNIs, CTS, or CTV2, then you need to move higher in the house. Your view of the Herberts Corners tower is probably obstructed.

Also, if you get 4.1, you should be getting 30.1, because it is higher on the Camp Fortune tower and more powerful than 4.1.

Which way are you pointing your antenna?

I extended the antenna and changed the trek position around, I now got the OMNI and TV24 additional channels. CTV is really the one I am chasing after.
I don't know my antenna points to where. I don't have a compass. I just move the Trek around, pointing in different direction to get the best and most pictures. Thanks.

Did you extend the rabbit ears on the Terk? You'll need to do that for CJOH on VHF channel 13 and CBOFT on VHF channel 9.

You don't need a compass. Go to the TVFool.com online maps feature, and use the "draw lines to transmitter sites" in satellite mode. Then you can see the local landmarks that you can use to figure out what diretion the towers are in.

Now, I got CBC/TV11(CHCH)/TV13(CTV)/TV14(OMNI)/TV24/TV42(CTS)/TV43(CTV2)/TV60(OMNI)/TV65(CtiyTV).

Thanks to everyone especially tvlurker. Trek HDTVa really works and the quality is very good.

Anyone missing 57-1-2-3 WCFE this morning and getting City on 57-1 instead of 65-1? Hope this isn't permanent...

Yes WCFE 38 seems to be missing

CITY is mapped to 57 now and the video is back
