Anyone else having trouble with TVA 40.1 recently? My HDHomerun reports signal strength and quality of 85% and symbol quality of 100%. Last week picture was fine and the audio was out of synch with the images. This week the audio is fine but there's some serious horizontal break up of the image. What's strikes me as particularly odd is that the horizontal lines that distort the image don't affect the whole screen, only fast moving parts of the image, almost as if it was a codec problem at the source. Bottom line, is this a problem on my end or theirs?

I've had problems picking up TVA CHOT 40.1 from the back of my 4228hd. I temporarily rotated to face between CF and HC to fix it. Even though SNR looked good, the image and sound would have problems. I do notice the zoom changes sometimes when a program starts.

I have been getting 18.x stations from watertown in the evenings off
and on and last night I received 28.x stations for the first time.
today 18.x was there at 09:30 am
I have a height advantage to the south and use a CM 4221 HD and a
CM 7777 plus a Delhi 302 VHF on the mast.
the output is through a splitter to 2 TVs
what are the conditions required for these "tropo*" receptions.
would a CM 3414 powered splitter help after the CM 7777 power unit
or would it conflict with the CM 7777 ?
The UHF antenna obviously points south towards HC tower.
The VHF pointing north and UHF seem to require a 3 foot spacing min.

jimlum, considering you're only splitting to 2 TVs, if you add a distribution amp you will make things worse. If you wish to improve, you have a shot at 1 reliable channel, WNPI * (-2.9 in your TVFOOL) . You could aim at WNPI the most accurately possible, and use a UHF antenna with a better gain, like the HD8800. But you also run the risk of overloading that 7777, and ...

* WNPI suffers from more co-channel interference post-transition. Your mileage may vary especially since you are looking fairly straight at HC.

Channel 6 is only around 80 MHz or less. It is the same frequency that clocks in personal computers run on. I have to shut my computer off to get channel 6. It is the most easily interfered station for digital devices.

Update on my tuner tests in Orleans; I was looking for a better tuner for my fringe signals in Orleans. The 950Q is still King for fringe signals when using a preamp in Orleans. But I'll be using my new Aero-M for antenna aiming. I can tune to a single channel with it even though it's not fully locked. Don't need to rescan all the time this way...

More Details in the HTPC tuner thread.

Glad I bought the 950qs, I'm running two of those and I still get global :)

What software do you guys use with your 950Q? The included WinTV software, Windows Media Center, etc.? (Of course, I guess it depends on which OS you have).

I ask because I have a 950Q on my HTPC (ION 330PRO) and I'm having trouble with Media Center; the hack for Canadian guide listings doesn't work for every channel for me. To record shows, I use WinTV so I have to hardcode each scheduled recording.

65.1 has been out for 3 days now. I guess its back to the attic for me.

I suspect the problem relates mostly to the output being a lowly 5.1 KW.

Flav.. you should know that my Sharp Aquos tuner clearly does better than the 950Q.

I installed my preamp last night and was very disapointed by the overall results.

I rescanned the channels and lost 2. As well, the signal strenght decreased on most of them.

Maybe someone can help me with this setup. I have a CM4228 ( 8 bay antenna pointed slighty to the right of Herbert's corner and I'm using a CM 4220 ( 2 bay) antenna to get channels from Camp fortune. I first tried to just connect the 8 bay to the pre-amp and unplugged the 2 bay. The results were very disappointing. I don't have an voltage meter gadget but the power source seems to be working fine.

I have left the factory settings as is and plugged the antenna in the dual VHF/UHF COAX connection.

Here are my TV fool results:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d9e746d1fa52808.

channels lost were 40 and 30

Thank you for any advice.

AnalogMig: Your TVFool link doesn't work.

Is it possible that you are overloading your tuner now with too much signal? What channels did you lose?

I don't think I'm overloading anything.

How close should the pre-amp power source be to your tv? As close as possible to the TV as the included instructions state?

Based on that TVFool, you have a *lot* of signal strength reaching you for all channels. I don't see why you would add a preamp. Were you having trouble receiving one of the Ottawa channels?

Pre amp should be as close to the antenna as possible.

My preamp(7778) is in attic but powered in my basement, probably 40 feet away. Then gets run back to main and top floor.
