I'm guessing that you recorded it off ABC? I was watching it live on ABC and yes, the feed died. I also noticed that CBS and PBS were dead. All three were dead on HD and SD. I watched the rest on CTV.

I actually called MTS when this happened and was told the problem was with their source. The tech suggested watching the rest on SD, I opted to watch the CTV HD feed instead. Of course my recording is not usable due to this incident.

For anyone who recorded it and haven't watched it yet (like me), ABC is re-broadcasting the finale this Saturday at 7:00pm.

I read on the Shaw forum that they had a problem as well so it must have been the source.

Yup - apparently it affected a good 500,000 viewers across North America. I swapped to the CTV feed about 30 minutes in.

Does anyone find this very odd...or is it just me?

Raven said that the blackout affected CBS and PBS as well and Mozza said it affected about 500,000 people across North America.

That's not very many people really...in the great scheme of things.

If it was truly trouble with the source...everyone watching that ABC affiliate would have been affected...and no one else...and definately no other Network would be affected.

All I know is that the recording of LOST on ABC stopped at 22 minutes into the show. I'm on Rogers, and every now and then a show will not record entirely. I suspect a glitch in the transmission confuses the PVR and it screws up. The PVR still thinks it is recording, but you can't view anything past the "glitch". I wonder if this correlates with that others have experienced.

Here's the official news right from the WDAZ web site:

Because of a technical error, parts of the WDAZ viewing area did not get to see the "Lost" series finale Sunday night.

WDAZ apologizes for the technical glitch, and we will be rebroadcasting the series finale this coming Saturday May 29th at 7:00pm on WDAZ. (http://www.wdaz.com/event/article/id/2686/)

If 500,00 households were affected, most of them were in Winnipeg since Grand Forks is a pretty small broadcast area.

That still doesn't explain what Raven said tho...when he checked CBS and PBS...they were black too...and all 3 Networks are from different cities???

Pretty sure MTS uses a CBS feed out of Minneapolis. I can confirm that the CBS and ABC were both blank (black screen) at the time. This occured around 8:45 pm CDT for the ABC feed on MTS. I am not sure when the CBS feed went out as I only noticed it after the ABC failure.

My wife wanted to watch Miss Marple at 9 PM on PBS. The HD feed was black, but channel 3 wasn't - it was frozen. It looked like it stopped and froze on a frame from the previous program that was on.

As for CBS, again, the HD feed was black, but channel 4 had a notice "We are experiencing difficulties, please stand by."

Which again makes me think that something else was going on.

When was the last time 3 out of the 5 big American Networks from 3 affiliates located in 3 different cities all went blank.
