: Just switched to Rogers - Stupid choices/omissions with the SA8300HD

I've been using Bell ExpressVu's HD PVR for years and recently moved in with someone, and am now using Rogers' SA8300HD PVR. I've noticed a few really stupid choices/omissions with Rogers' HD PVR:

160GB hard drive... seriously?
the low-resolution, 5-slot guide... why, Rogers, WHY?!?
no "jump ahead" button to skip commercials, just fast-forward (no doubt because they don't want you mindlessly skipping commercials)
no way to search for a program to record by keying in the name; scrolling through long lists to find the program you want is a huge pain
if there's a conflict as a result of scheduling a new recording (every time a certain show airs) at a time when there are already 2 shows scheduled, you can't just cancel that one airing; you have to program the show to record at specific times when you know there won't be a conflict

If anyone knows of ways to get around these, please let me know. I know that an external drive can be added for more storage, but 160GB is ridiculous.

I sure do miss my ExpressVu HD PVR.

to me, it seems like the rogers platform is very old, and all they did were tack on enhancements to the original digital cable spec it to say theyre pvr ready and hd ready, but they are not complete as in they are missing some very important features.

Yes it would cost a lot of money to build a system from the ground up that delivers great HD experience and has the best PVR functions, but a lot of us would rather see a complete overhaul of it, unless their headend does not support it and would need a overall too this would force people off their current boxes and slowly migrate them to new boxes, it would be a bigger headache too. what ever bellus's approach is, was a good one.
