hey guys hopefully this is the right place to do this

im trying to record some old vhs tapes with the hauppauge 1212. however, when i try to record one of the tapes (the only one ive tried), the pvr keeps losing the signal and messing up the recording.

when i connect the vcr to the tv, everything works fine. but if i connect it to the pvr, like i said it loses connection, saying "no video", though it seems like it is the vcr saying this rather than the pvr.

ive recorded a bunch of stuff on my ps3 with the pvr so i have no idea what the problem is.

I suspect you are encountering analog copy protection (macrovision). This often occurred in the past when people would cascade their DVD to their VCR then to their TV.

What video connections do you have? S-video, component, coax? Have you tried them all?

Does your TV have video output? If it does you can try to use that to connect to your PVR.
