Just to be clear, we're talking about REBROADCASTERS in mandatory markets, like CBKST Saskatoon which is considered a rebroadcaster of CBKT Regina.

Since the CRTC approved London CBLN-TV and other communities CBC analogue transmitters service to continue until August 31, 2012, we will all have to wait until next June 2012 to find out what the CBC will do with these transmitters. Will the CBC eventually convert some or all of the 22 transmitters in mandatory markets to digital, or simply shut down these transmitters by August 31, 2012 ?


Guiton has been quoted as saying that they will apply for analog extensions until the analog equipment dies or the analog distribution system dies.

CBC said during Toronto at 5 that they will be shutting down CBLT at 11:59 tonight.

Hopefully someone can record the shutdown. Hope they do something neat for CBLT. Almost 60 years on the air...

CBET-TV 9 Windsor has the CBC feed from Toronto up as Wheel of Fortune was on when it should be blacked out. Looks like they are all ready to shut down NTSC 9.

Also, CBEFT 54 has shut down and has now moved to CH 35 at a diminished power level.. 36kW peak/12kW avg. No more DX on 35 now :<

They must be getting the HD set up for Windsor.

Also, CBLT analog 5 has been in 16:9 all day. Wonder why that is.

I guessing that CBLT is just running their digital feed through the analogue transmitters.

With all these Canadian analogs shutting down and add on some wild tropo,... things are a little weird tonight when I did a scan. Channel 57 is still analog CityTV, and CBC channel 5 Toronto is still booming in, but what's most unusual is that it also scanned analog channels 18, 29, 40 all showing a very snowy CBC:confused:

If CBC was bleeding into channel 40,.. then it's no wonder that I could never get CTV's 40.1RF

I hope CBC shuts that bleeding flamethrower off really soon so I can do a clean scan.

Yeah, reception is pretty strange. CHEX is still coming in for me, which it never did all the time, just certain nights. That mysterious channel 6, CJOH-TV-6 as far as anyone knows, is still there from last night too. No color or sound, but the channels are there.

20 minutes to midnight here in Windsor and CBC's digital broadcast still isn't up. I hope it successfully does the switch at midnight, I'd love to have video of it.

CBET analog just went off. Still waiting for digital.

How much you want to bet CBC will be late in doing the transition? 11:59 and analog still on!

EDIT2: They took down Digital 5.1 as well but 25.1 digital still on! OOPS! wrong transmitter!

EDIT3: 25.1 digital now off the air as well. No more CBC or SRC on the air at all!

EDIT4: 25 RF now digital.

EDIT5: 5.1 (RF 20) back on the air

and it just went digital on 9-1!
