Most people in Canada probably didn't pay much attention to the NCAA tourney. But what should be of interest to everyone is the innovative, simultaneous availability of live TV viewing and internet streaming. Moreover, this possibility was widely promoted by CBS. In short, CBS and/or the NCAA were simply interested in the widest possible audience. They didn't seem to care where or how you watched it. What a sensible way to do things! Wouldn't it be nice if the viewer could have this option for every programme?

Yes, although I am sure we Canadians would not get the benefit of any of that. :(

I don't know that this is unique to CBS and NCAA hoops. Hasn't this done by TSN for the last couple of World Junior Hockey tournaments?

We already saw this kind of thing in Canada with the Olympics.

CTV streamed all of the olympic telecasts (from all channels), plus the Olympic Broadcast Services raw feeds live online.
