Is it worth reporting this guy and if so who too?

Here is what is happening and BTW he has only tried to scam me unsuccessfully

Some time ago I posted an add on the internet that I was looking for a power supply for a ham radio. yesterday I got a very suspicious response.

The responder supposedly in England where this power supply was made says he will ship me the power supply for $150USD shipping included

first this is a great price even without shipping.
second the Power supply is really heavy and large no way this price could include shipping best price I could find to ship from england to here was 85GBP = $135 CAD
third he wants payment by Western Union or Money Gram

all three set of the fraud alarms in my brain.

I checked out the name of the seller on google and had several hits as a fraudster in Nigeria

Is it worth reporting this guy and if so who too?

at this point I am stringing him along with a bogus question about it.

Not sure who you would report it too, but WU for money always sets of scam alarm in my head.

How is his English and grammar? Its very easy to tell Nigeria scams by the way they communicate.

If you think its a scam then go with your instinct

oh its definitely a scam no question I never really doubted that.

his English is fine but hee is the clincher I asked him a question regarding the Power supply

The power supply I am looking for is for a late 1960s KW2000b Trancsciver the radio itself had tubes (called valves in england) but all versions of the the power supply were all solid state and KW never made one with tubes for the KW2000 series. so I asked this bogus question mostly to string him or her along. I asked if this was the older more desirable tube (valve)version and he replied that it was this older version and that all the valves where intact. hmm Id like to see that one!

Although it would be fun to keep him stung along but I wont do that. But I have looked at the RCMP and OPP sites and they seem to be interested in Phishing emails and cases where the scam has already happened. I will send them the details though to see if they are interested in investigating this guy.

I would not bother. Craigslist, kijiji and usedeverywhere are flooded with these types of things. You are just one of thousands. Think of it as spam. I had a similar experience except it was for a piece of farming equipment. In fact the sites I mentioned even have a warning usually on the main page to not accept offers when money orders or wire transfers are involved. Paypal et al exist for a reason.
