Thanks for help from anybody on this set-up. I have been reading through as many post as I can but still have a hard time understanding. What i have is a new Sony KDLEX700 Led TV and a new Sony STRDH800 A/V receiver. The receiver has four HDMI inputs and one output. Will also be connecting a Bell 9200. Info with receiver says to run HDMI from Bell to receiver, then HDMI to the TV. There are also optical inputs to use. I have all speakers needed for 5.1 sound to hook up also. Will I achieve optimum sound and video this way. If not any hints as to set-up.
Love this site and use at least twice a week.
Thanks in advance.
J.P.

I believe that AVR accepts HDMI audio, so no need for optical if using HDMI. Here's an FAQ on Cables & Connections:

And here's a post, useful for optimization, etc:

If your receiver can accept audio via HDMI and send it to the speaker outputs (some entry-level receivers cannot do this - they can only pass the audio through to the display), then you will get optimum audio with that HDMI connectivity. Check your receiver's owner's manual - it will tell you what it can do.
