I friend who has shaw direct and lives in the gta actually "Moved" his service address out of simsub reach but kept his billing address the same. I guess that worked like a charm according to him anyway.

To hell with CTV and the CRTC,Im going to the US to watch the game.
My hotel room has a 26in TV so I can watch the CBS coverage without having to be concerned with simsubbing.

Assuming you are close enough to go there and back in the same day, instead of paying for a hotel room, why not just go to a sports bar? They will likely have better TVs than the hotel does and it is more fun with a crowd.

Yeah I agree with roger1818. Just go across the border and watch it at a bar on CBS, instead of checking in at a hotel. That way you can enjoy a couple of beers, some chicken wings, and enjoy the game with a crowd of people :)

Any ideas if Telus Sat TV will have a un simsubbed channel in HD?

The broadcast is not HD and delayed but you will probably be able to watch the game from a feed from US on www.justin.tv. There will probably be some feed for the game.
So I suggest you watch the game from your provider and then switch to justintv for ads.

I emailed Shaw Direct on this issue and was told the only way to see the U.S. commercials would be via the HD feed, as I'm not in Toronto (Newfoundland). All other SD feeds will be "you know what."

RE: Shaw Direct. Doesn't resetting the box after the program starts trick still work for SD channels? I thought I read at one time that the simsub signal is only sent by Shaw Direct at the start of the program and you can circumvent this by unplugging the power after the program starts. You may want to test this on a USA channel during primetime this week.

Im in rural Newfoundland I get the superbowl simsubed on the west feed only & only for half the game they don`t touch the east feed and the simsub is not the local station showing the game(NTV)but CTV BC feed so unless they change it this year I will get the ad`s on the east CBS feed.:)

Forgot to say this is with shaw direct.

Usually they air the "CBS" feed, but the commercials are swapped for Canadian ones.

Ontario- Rogers - Yes in CFTO land

If it's like the past few years London & Ottawa will see CTV HD Simsub on FOX-West HD but not FOX-East HD.

I don't know why Rogers does this unless it's because the Detroit Feed went dead a few years ago.

Just don't freak out if you get on Fox-West and see CTV HD....

I PVR'd the Superbowl Top 10 Commercials this evening off WIVB-HD over the air.

The sound was all screwed up...Jimmy was like talking in a small bathroom...WTF??

Along with the relatively poor video quality in the Grammy...I am beginning to worry a little bit about WIVB-HD (CBS) :)

The last few years, I have simply PVR'd the game and started watching around 7:30pm. I complete the game around the time it ends. Then after the game or the next day, I go on-line and watch all the highest ranked ads.

Much easier!

Personally, with Rogers GTA, all channels were simsubbed. Standard, HD and West Coast Feed...

This means Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, Hyundai Canada and, of course, the pretty Canadian versions of Bud/Bud Light commercials. Aren't we tired of seeing the guy punching that giant squid... Oh, I forgot The Mentalist, Lost, etc...

And CTV are the ones saying that local TV matters?!? From what I know, all they do is simsubbed US shows... That's not local TV...

Personally, I will PVR the whole thing, start watching around 8pm after a nice dinner, skip all their stupid commercials, and finish around 10pm like everyone else.

And what I should do is write an email to CTV, CRTC and to the MP in charge of the CRTC everytime I'm watching a simsubbed show, tell them that it's annoying, and tell them that I'm PVRing their show and skipping all their commercials...

I'm really tired of having this frustration every year...

I much prefer the motel route, its off season rates anyway maybe $50-80US a night at one of those cookie cutter motels.I dont care for the bar scene with all that noise,
Want to enjoy the game in peace and quiet with my own food and cold American beer.As for distance,Im about a 3-4 hour drive from Bangor.I leave Saturday morning and return early Monday afternoon.

WIVB's been a little "tinny" for a long while now.. I think it's a problem mixing the channels together properly.
Only happens on some programs, too.

But I think you'll be safe for the superbowl, as it's a national feed they'd just be putting up for broadcast. (maybe?)
