Just wondering what is the best way to connect my OTA to my surround sound system. I wanna go thru surround system and must have a HDMI output to connect to receiver because equipment is located in another room and I have a 35 ft HDMI cable going to TV. Wanna disconnect SAT service. Thanks Carl

Just wondering what is the best way to connect my OTA to my surround sound system. Can your current receiver process HDMI audio? If 'yes', run the 35' HDMI cable from your OTA box to your receiver and run a smaller HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV.
If 'no', and assuming your OTA box allows you to do so, leave the HDMI cable connected to your TV, run a separate digital audio cable from the OTA box to the receiver.

Yes it processes audio thru HDMI. I have got to leave the 35ft hdmi to tv in place because all equipment and speakers are wired to seperate closet to that receiver. No equipment near TV. Just wondering what is the best OTA box that has HDMI output that can connect to my receiver.

If his TV has an ATSC tuner, could it have either HDMI-out or SPDIF-out or audio-out that could carry the 5.1 channel to his receiver? Then he would not have to buy an seperate ATSC tuner and could possibly re-use the 35' HDMI cable.
Carl, what is the make and model of the TV?
