Well I am the end of Jan proves to be the time the HD and subs return to 24.1 remapping to 28.1 28.2 28.3 as it the date I was told would be if not Dec ends then Jan 2012 for a solution to be employed. The changes they made to 19.1 KBCB and 24.1 KBTC to stabalize the signal rate to keep it from dropping off has certainly proven to have worked over the past 2 months plus so with that the feed from the transmitter should be strong and steady. I am scanning every day now in order to see it pop up :)

Posted today by the General Manager of KBTC on the station's blog:

We just made a big forward securing a path from Seattle to Bellingham. We are now in the process of upgrading a microwave link from Bellingham to Orcas Island. We are getting very close, perhaps a month or so. We'll keep you posted.

Further details about KBTC's solution to bring HD/subchannels back to K24IC-D:

Very recently a partnership developed which has allowed us to deliver our full signal from Seattle to Bellingham utilizing the ever improving technology of video-over-internet. At Bellingham we are waiting for some new equipment that will update a microwave link to Orcas. When that equipment arrives, weather permitting, we can optimize that microwave to deliver our entire signal band and KBTC-2 and KBTC-3 will be back on the air.

All of this could happen within just a couple of months, but we’re not counting our chickens just yet. Also, because this solution is based on internet protocols, we will have to monitor the signal stability and may have occasional hiccups. Down the road we hope to upgrade the microwave link to a digital transport stream and improve the stability.

Well OTA broadcasting is now the new owners of KVOS, in one of the first statements announced they are concidering selling there tv frequency during the next spectrum allotment sell off. It seems unfortunate that the FCC is allowing buyouts by speculative investors with the sole purpose of selling spectrum with no concideration to the viewers of the broadcasters.

NDNILE - Be it FCC or CRTC - their agenda is to make the most money with limited resources (spectrum) available. Make no mistake - the conversion to digital was for financial reasons - not for an enhanced viewing pleasure.

In an email, Todd Lawyer, the company's chief executive officer, said OTA anticipates hiring a total of 10 employees from KVOS offices in Bellingham and Vancouver, B.C.

"We intend to retain the station's commitment to the community through local programming," he wrote. "In addition, we will seek to improve the performance of KVOS TV, which has been unprofitable over the past several years. ... Because the assets of KVOS TV are expected to be combined with those of KFFV TV in Seattle, we will improve the operations and long-term prospects of both stations."http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2012/02/27/2408022/kvos-tv-sale-layoffs-signal-hard.html#storylink=cpy

^^ One of America's first stations to perhaps cash in on the new spectrum buy-back incentive recently approved by Congress for the FCC?

Noticed, for the past few days, there is no picture or sound for The Cool TV: 35.2. Signal strength shows 74%, but just black. KVOS DT: 35.1 is coming in fine. Anyone else have this issue or know what's going on?

Found out from "Northwest Broadcasters" 05/24/12 that THECOOLTV, feed on KVOS-TV Bellingham's channel 35.2, is off-air, due to the server being relocated to Seattle along with KVOS technical operations. It is scheduled to return in the first week of June.

I'm receiving 2 different KVOS MeTV feeds, one with US targeted commercials at 12-1/35-3 and another with Canadian market ads at 35-5. Each feed also tends to have different bumpers at the top of the hour.

KBTC will be launching a new transmitter in the Seattle area on channel 16 at 1kw ERP and 330ft HAT near the end of June.

They are planning on having the sub channels on Orcas Island (28.2,28.3) up and running around the end of June aswell they are just setting up a new fiber optic connection.

35.5 has showed up for me as 35.5 or 17.5 43.5 and 24.5 depending on the scan it shows up and sonmtimes it is a duplicate of another station but as often it is 100% signal and no video or audio, I belive some ones station is churning out some crap which the tuner is quessing on what it is this has been going on for a few weeks?
also 19.5

I saw in another post somewhere and when I checked it seemed to be true, that KVOS is running 12.1 and 35.5 with same program, different ads - one runs Canadian ads, and the other runs US ads. "edit" I just checked, some ads are the same (maybe network) and some ads are different ie 35.5 ran a Canadian ad and at the same time 12.1 ran an American ad.

35.5 kvos
I did a few TSReaderlite and I can confirm there is 35.5 and it is KVOS and although I did not compare content but good observation S40 interesting.
One feed may be the shaw feed and the other may be the comcast feed that would make sense of it and perhaps they are not even aware it is being broadcast?
I left a message with KVOS Belingham Engeneering about the broadcast observations I hope to hear back soon

About noon I got an email kvos and they did have a look at the feeds and seemed to be surprized at the extra feed andways I am not sure what they are going to do about and they are two seperate feeds on for lower mainland and one for puget sound feed.
