Yep that wouldn't surprise me - I figured they were probably using a channel-cut pro rig like a Kathrein-Scala, Blonder Tongue, or Wade antenna.

Just a request to everyone to help keep the station call signs straight regarding KBTC and its repeater near Bellingham:

the transmitter on Mt. Constitution near Bellingham is K24IC-D so let's keep using that name to refer to it regarding status and technical matters
K24IC-D is a privately owned, independent low power digital station not affiliated with KBTC
the programming on those repeated channels originates from KBTC at Bates Technical College in Tacoma
KBTC is affiliated with the PBS and MHz networks
if KBTC Tacoma's own status changes or technical issues arise there at the originating site then KBTC is the name to use

KVOS-DT has been down for me in New West for 2 days now. Anybody else having the same issue ? (the shopping channel is down as well, but who cares about that ;) )

I rescanned last week and was pleased to see KBTC's Bellingham signal, channel 24, 28-1 (PBS) and 28-2 (MHz Worldview).

KVOS-DT seems dead lately.

kvos 35.1 and 19.1 kbcb are back again - power is restored to transmitters

Anyone with an interior antenna managed to pick up K24IC-D? I've moved mine all around the house, and found a position where I will pick up KBCB 19.1 at 80% and KVOS-DT 35.1 at 100% on my Samsung TV (strongest it's ever been), but still no luck with K24IC-D.

24.1 and 24.2 are transmitting at about 10% of power right now and plan l up to full power at the end of June as they need to install a power amp.

info coming from KBCB...As far as news around here is concerned, I finalized the hotel reservations for the transmitter specialist to come out here with the second amp to double the output power of K24IC-D. Sometime during the week of July 5-10 you will see KBCB and K24IC go off the air, but not to worry, when they come back the transmitter output power of K24IC-D will have doubled. We’re also going to be installing a digital new exciter on K24IC, which will greatly improve the quality and reach of the signal.

From what you’ve told me about your antenna and your location in New West I’d expect to see the signal meter on your receiver pegged at 100% after the upgrade. After the upgrade, the improvement in K24IC’s signal strength and coverage should be pretty dramatic.

Things are also coming along on the digital microwave upgrade for KBCB. After we get that done, we’ll be able to add multicast services to KBCB’s signal.

For those that couldn't get this channel before, it may be worth a rescan now. Either it's tropo, or K24IC has indeed bumped their transmitting power. I'm getting it quite easily on a side lobe...

The upgrade is not going to happen till July 5 2010 that is when the crew arrives to do the work it must be a little tropo

Well the KBTC 28.1 and 28.2 for me come in at 92% snr ( 24.1 ) even at the low state of the transmission I also get kvos 35.1 at 100% snr ( 33.0 ) and KBCB at 100% (snr at 31.8)
I got my membership letter from KBTC today the first Canadian member.
They start the work upgrades on the July 5th it may take a couple of days to complete.

Is KBCB and K24IC not transmitting from the same tower??? Seems so odd that I can get 19.1 so strongly and not even a wiff of K24IC

Any chance KBTC will be available in my area once the output is raised? Just curious, I already get PBS Seattle just fine. FWIW, I get KVOS very strong with my antenna pointed south.

Whidbey do you get KBCB 19.1 right now? If you do then you should get 24.1 and 24.2 once the power is upped.
