alebowgm 2008-11-24, 02:18 PM Am I the only one thinking that with the economy going down the tank, the absolute last thing on Global's collective mind right now is spending money in order to correct its PSIP situation?
Well probably not the engineers at Global...
recneps77 2008-11-24, 02:55 PM Broadcast TV stations will probably not sustain a hit. It's specialty channels that get cancelled when people have to tighten the budget ;)
If anything, Global may receive higher viewership, and more money.. especially if they say "Hey, you can watch us for FREE in HD using an antenna."
danbcman 2008-11-24, 03:37 PM Lucky for us the equipment is actually purchased which is good for the veiwers like us. As to the rate they will be upgrading the other stations they have well who knows but the majour stations with the PSIP troubles have thier equipment now the hold up is getting it working installed then getting the change over done.:)
There are two stations back east and ours here in BC all have the quipment so the new revised time table for us in BC is Dec for the change over with holidays and what not I'd bet early Jan 2009.
dbarron 2008-12-12, 09:06 PM This might not mean anything, but CHAN has moved from 22.2 to 22.1 on my TV today.
Stevkev 2008-12-14, 12:18 AM No, I think it means something. My Samsung TV now shows CHAN remapped to 8.1 for the first time since it went live, and is showing more program data than it has previous. Instead of the show title, it simply shows "DTV program", as well as the time and ESRB rating. Before it just showed No Information Available.
levibluewa 2008-12-14, 02:28 AM CHAN-DT tonight finally remapped from 22.2 to 22.1 and 8.1. Signal level 56-62. CIVT remapped from 33.2 to 32.1 finally. If this is due to the snowy conditions...then more snow!!! Not really!
alebowgm 2008-12-14, 02:56 AM Still nothing in Toronto for CIII or CHCH :(
danbcman 2008-12-15, 10:30 AM I have now a full psip listing for CHAN DTV 22.1:)
MPEG-2 Statistics
Table Sections Processed CRC Errors
PAT 2.0k 0
CAT 0 0
PMT 2 0
ETT 2.0k 2
PSIP 5.3k 4
EIT 2.0k 0
Tom.F.1 2008-12-15, 01:05 PM Today, for the first time, my Samsung tv Re-Mapped global to 41.1
It even has Station ID, CIII-DT and says DTV Program. :)
Time is Wrong  Oops, it was on manual, its me that had the time wrong.
CHCH still comes in at 18.1, no info.
stampeder 2008-12-15, 01:09 PM Thanks guys, it looks like Global has sorted out their PSIP problems now. I'll leave this thread open for just a bit longer in case there are any lingering problems we see, such as the time clock thing.
Has CHCH-DT been corrected too?
alebowgm 2008-12-15, 01:12 PM I checked 8 hours ago and nothing. 8 hours later and now my TV as well has fixed the PSIP remaping on CIII-DT, although nothing yet on CHCH-DT. The time is off by an hour (it things its 2:12pm not 1:12pm right now) and it does say DTV program but this is a step in the right direction!
El Gran Chico 2008-12-15, 02:08 PM I now see CIII-DT remapping to 41-1 on my DTB-H260F. The time is correct too. CHCH-DT still has no remap.
levibluewa 2008-12-15, 04:57 PM Just so you guys see it in this portion of the forum...last night CHANDT 8.1 signal level was on a par with CBUTHD 2.1 with a signal of 67-73 and a beautiful picture. Although 33.2 remapped to 32.1, the signal is 27-38...no pic/sound.
danbcman 2008-12-15, 05:04 PM I am glad you are able to recieve the CHAN DTV now I would go the distance and get a good 4228 antenna and have it all. My antenna will be down soon 12 months and the towers will be done no cranes no bounce no dtv for Dan other than kvos and KBCB
danbcman 2008-12-15, 05:06 PM I spoke to Vic via email the change over took place Friday afternoon brrr cold up there I bet.:)
dtvinvictoria 2008-12-15, 09:10 PM CHAN-DT is still displaying as 22.2 on my samsung TV with no time, call letters, or program info. I tried redoing my channel scan and still no luck. Just my 2 cents.
I had to reinstall chan on my Hisense (sold as US Digital), as it did not recognize the channel. After re-install it looked good. Once it recognized the channel it always called it 8.1
PPL4GOLF 2008-12-16, 12:59 AM Samsung A550 automatic switched to 41.1 from 65.2, channel name is CIII-DT, 'DTV Program' on all program listing. No rescan needed.
Magnavox 19" all-in-one LCD needed a rescan of only channel 65 and info same as the Sammy.
LG was 41.1 CIII-DT to start with and it didn't need any rescan. The time is correct now.
I use 3 programs for the ATSC tuner cards in my HTPCs, GBPVR and Arcsoft Total Media 3 have lost CIII-DT and will require a total rescan which unfortunately is the way it is. WatchHDTV prevails again, either 65.1 or 65.-1 works!!
99semaj 2008-12-16, 09:44 PM CIII-DT started working for me about a month ago. A little weak on TX power, but it locks 95% of the time. (I'm about 50km from the tower, no obstructions)
dtvinvictoria 2008-12-19, 01:04 AM Global HD is now remapping to channel 8.1 on my Samsung TV. It seems that Global is well on their way to solving their PSIP issues.
