Those of you who can't get Global (in whatever city), try a re-scan. I was not getting Global Toronto at all on Saturday night (I tried 41-1 and 65) on my 50" Panasonic PX75U. A re-scan straightened it out. Their PSIP still isn't 100% perfect. If it was set up right, merely entering channel 65 on the remote should've worked.

My Samsung 260 works as always, but when I enter 65 on my Artec receiver it switches to 41, but still no picture for me. we're getting closer! :)

THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.

On my LG when you type in 65-1 it remaps to 41-0. This gives you no video. Now, if you type in 41-1 you should get both audio and video back.

Hi Guys,

Last week I sent off a email to Global describing some of the problems the members are having. I just check again and I am happy to say I can now receive 41.1 with audio and video on my LG TV.

Looks like Global is having some problems adjusting from 65.1, 65.2. you might say their having some growing pains.

Check it out! :D

BTW. My ATI tuner still receiving Global on 65.1

Thanks Walter! This solved this issue on my Zenith DTT900!

I've given up.

I didn't put up an antenna so i could play with different tuners trying to overcome somebody elses problem. I don't care wether global has software problems, ITS NOT MY Problem.

Ive removed global 41/65 or whatever from my channel list.

I don't care if they ever get up to speed.

They have no progamming i care about. Goodbye Global. You missed the boat.

Looks like they updated their TVCT table. There's a separate entry for CIII-DT on 41.1 that uses 8VSB modulation and CIII-TV that uses analog modulation. EasyHDTV now picks up the channel as 41.1 when doing a scan.

Life is too short to be angered about something you don't pay them a dime for. My wish is that they'll get it right asap and if they don't, so what. My irritation is with the broadcasters who are still sitting on the Digital OTA fence - get with it already! :)

I tried Global again and the sound was back last night.
I think they fixed it and it wasn't because I was doing anything special.
Bringing up the problem here...I think works faster than an official complaint...I gotta give it to them on fixing it quickly this time.

Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear things have not improved for you regarding Global station. I can only suggest you wait for a little while longer :(

After I sent the email to Global TV I received this automated response from them. Not sure this helps you much, but if I get any other response from them I will post it for everyone.High Definition Inquiries:
Although HD is not mandated by the CRTC until 2011, the Global Television Network is taking steps towards conversion this year (2008).
Global Television in Ontario currently provides an HD stream to some of the larger BDUs - broadcast distribution undertaking (BDUs are your local cable or satellite providers). We will be addressing each Global station over a period of time and not all at once.
There is no over the air transmission available yet, but we expect to have an over the air HD transmitter up and running for CHCH Hamilton, Global Ontario and Global BC by the end of April. After they are set up and running, Calgary and Edmonton will follow for an HD transmitter, followed by the remaining Global Networks. Detailed specifications (i.e. the actual channel #'s) will come at a later date.
Simulcast Substitution (SimSub) of our Global or E! signal atop a U.S. broadcaster's signal carrying the exact same program at the exact same time will continue as per the CRTC, however that said if for example NBC is airing an HD version of the same show we only have available in SD (Standard Definition), then the BDU's should not be initiating that SimSub.
Your patience is appreciated and we hope we've addressed your query.

FWIW, my sammy T-451 has never remapped 65-1 to 41-1.
I'd rather have them broadcast faulty PSIP data with the ATSC signal, than nothing at all. ;)

No change here...still waiting for new equipment, I guess. TV has never found a picture, although it locked onto 22.2. Also, has never remapped to 8.1.

Guess after CHAN gets its new equipment installed I'll know if I need new equipment...4228, 7777, etc. :(

Hi All:

We are awaiting delivery of equipment to correct the PSIP information on all three of these stations. We know that some receivers cannot decode our signals correctly. In particular Viewsoinic sets have to have the correct info.
We are missing the EIT tables and STT tables in particular as well as the EPG which doesn't seem to be as critical to the sets decoding the signal.

I look forward to seeing the improved tranmission once they are installed.
In my neighbourhood as the second tower under construction is now growing so will the construction crane tomorrow it looks like for me that means relly high signal numbers from reflections for a few months.
I am so lucky my better half loves the HD and encourages me to play around with it fishing and golf Saturdays we love the crisp images.... thanks Vic and all the Calgary guys and everyone for making this happen and not stalling for endless pauses.

My SHARP, LG, and STB all report Global and CHCH as they should be.

My Viewsonic still reports CHCH-DT as 18.1 and identifies it as RF18-1, and CIII-DT as 65-2 and RF65-2.

Funny that Roger's OMNI managed to get it right.

What is "as it should be"?
Our Viewsonic reports 41-1 "Channel" - time is correct - no other data - "No program data."
Is there data being sent, or that's it? (i.e. our TV is picking it up fine?)

As it should be is:

CHCH-DT 11-1
CIII-DT 41-1

All my sets are on the same CM4228, yet the Viewsonic picks up 36-1 CTS-HD.
The other sets don't.
