: Pace 770D / Sharp Aquos Remote Issue
XBrav 2009-12-24, 12:36 AM The best I have to offer is the link to the remote website:
www.urcsupport.com
The manuals there are pretty wicked, it taught me how to do everything minus hooking up a JP1 cable and programming it from a PC.
The only solution I can think of is re-program the remote to a code for each device.
Pete, the only code I can see for a Denon is 0160. Pace's codes are 1877 and 0237.
Does this issue occur with just the Denon's remote, the Shaw remote, or both? If it's only with the Shaw remote, we can train the buttons independently on the remote.
Shaw Guru 2009-12-24, 11:34 AM Almost Christmas Eve and I still get 888 on my Pace HD Box when I up the volume on my Denon.
Merry Christmas Shaw Csdasd xu asef; vasdfh ylyg
Have you tried the volume lock option? If the Atlas PVR remote has been programmed to control the TV volume, we can change the PVR remote functionality to control the volume on the PVR as opposed to the TV. Procedure is located on page 16-17 of the Shaw Atlas remote manual and noted below and has been confirmed by myself to work as a possible solution til Pace comes up with a permanent fix.
Assuming Global Volume Lock is active, select a mode on the remote control that you want to unlock (e.g., TV) and press it once. Next, press and hold SETUP until the device key blinks twice.
Enter 9 9 3. The last-selected device key will blink twice.
Press VOL- once. The last-selected device key will blink four times.
Now follow the same steps but use VOL + and lock the volume to only control the volume on the DCT itself.
petespee 2009-12-25, 04:31 PM Problem is not the volume control of the Shaw remote, but that adjusting the volume of my Denon (using the denon remote) or using other remote functions on my Denon remote will change the channel on the Pace HD-PVR to 888 etc.
i.e. The PACE is responding to codes from other remote.
tiki91 2009-12-29, 03:06 PM having same problem with my dennon its a real pain. any solution yet?

Yes, easy solution.
Follow the above volume lock procedure. Here's your problem - Volume for the sharp/denon does 8's on the dct.
Therefore, do not use the volume control on the sharp or denon equipment. Use the volume control for the pace box to change it's output level.
Set your tv/stereo to what you want 100% volume to be, then hold setup until a device key flashes red twice, enter in 993, then push cbl. From now on until this is fixed, the digital terminal will lower it's volume output, effectively lowering the volume on your stereo/tv.
Until the new firmware is released anyway.
tiki91 2009-12-31, 01:46 PM that worked great thanks.
WarpedRenegade 2009-12-31, 04:54 PM I have a Sharp Aquos LC-40E77UN & a Pace TDC770D with the Atlas PVR Universal Remote.
I have programmed the TV controls with the code provided in the Atlas manual (0093, I've tried every other code as well but none of them worked) and these are the problems I am having
1. Pressing the volume key causes the volume increases on the TV and the PVR to go to channel 888
2. The video source button causes it to go to channel 888 or 0
3. The HD/Zoom causes it to go to the digital music screen
I have tried the following
1. I called Shaw and told them my problem and after 10 minutes of me trying to get her to understand she had me go thru and remove the volume lock two times with no success. After that did not work they pretty much gave me no solution.
2. I set my Atlas control back to the factory setting using the 981 code then configuring it to 0476 after the reset. nada, still did the same thing
3. Went to futureshop where I bought the TV and one of the installers was saying that the Atlas remotes uses RF & IF and said to try to disable/enable the RF function. I read the Atlas, Sharp and Pace manuals and found nothing about any of them using RF. Can anyone confirm or deny if any of those devices use radio frequency?
4. I tried a Logitech Harmony 550 and had the same problem as the Atlas, 888 and 0's
so do I
A. wait for Shaw to fix the problem
B. cancel Shaw and get Bell HD
c. train a monkey to sit by my TV and PVR to man the controls
any suggestions?
:confused::mad::confused:
Right now this is an issue without solution, I had a shaw tech person in my home today for this problem, he told me there's nothing he can do, the Pace terminal simply can not be put together with the Sharp TV, my solution is to move my old Motorola HD terminal back with the Sharp and use the Pace with my other TV (Sony).
So anyone with a Sharp LCD should use the Motorola HDTC for Now.
Good Luck.
One solution may be to get an inexpensive HTiB or AVR, programme the remote to control the volume there, instead of the TV?
Shaw Guru 2010-01-04, 05:58 PM Problem is not the volume control of the Shaw remote, but that adjusting the volume of my Denon (using the denon remote) or using other remote functions on my Denon remote will change the channel on the Pace HD-PVR to 888 etc.

I underdstand the problem is not on the shaw remote. What I'm saying is lock the volume on the DCT so that when you press the volume button only the DCT volume changes. Then set your volume manually on your Sharp TV or Denon receiver to a normalized level and make individual adjustments from then on using the DCT.
johnoj 2010-01-06, 12:38 PM I've locked the volume on the DCT which is an OK solution for the volume problem.
Still doesn't help when you need to access the TV menu, switch inputs or pretty much do anything else other than switch off the TV or change the volume.
Hoping that this is a priority fix for the firmware upgrade because it's a huge pain!
apecush 2010-01-06, 05:14 PM yep, still hoping for that firmware update...
my current solution is to almost completely obscure the IR reciever for the STB so it recieves minimal signal from the TV remote....it can get a bit tough to change channels, but i minimize any interference when using the TV remote.
Shaw Guru 2010-01-07, 06:36 PM I've locked the volume on the DCT which is an OK solution for the volume problem.

To switch inputs you would just press TV button on Shaw remote then Video Source Button. For Menu Press TV and then Menu. All of these should still work it is just the volume buttons that will not work in TV mode. (Just remember to press CBL when done to be able to change channels and control the DCT)
WarpedRenegade 2010-01-10, 09:24 PM when i try to change the input "video source" with tv button selected it still tries to change the pace 77d to 888 :(
Shaw Guru 2010-01-11, 05:41 PM I can't explain why this would happen. Does it happen when you press the input/source button on your TV's remote?
WarpedRenegade 2010-01-12, 11:10 AM yes. the video source from the tv (sharp Aquos) & atlas remote causes the pvr to change 888 or 0
Shaw Guru 2010-01-12, 11:41 AM Wow my understanding was that it was just the volume that had the same codes as the 8888 on the Atlas remote not the source button as well. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but thank you for the info.
Fergdog 2010-01-22, 03:26 AM I have a Denon with the same issue, even turning the power off to the A/V receiver sends 8's to the Pace.
I have set remote so that the digital terminal's volume can be controlled, and it shows up on the TV, but even as it shows the volume bars moving up and down, the sound remains the same. Is there some way to change that?
Shaw Guru 2010-01-22, 05:50 PM You would set the audio manually on the denon to a normalized level and then adjust it from there using the output of the audio from the DCT. That's my understanding at least.
Fergdog 2010-01-23, 10:54 AM That's just what I did, and oddly the mute on the DCT will work, but adjusting the DCT's volume doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe I need to change a setting or something.
