Hey folks, I just bought a new pace pver and expander. I am trying to find some info on transfering my old recordings from the old rental pvr to the expander box without having to sync the Sata drive to my rental.
Is this possible? From what I have read the Sata drives are sync'd to the pvr and only usable with the pvr but there doesnt seem to be alot of info on the process...
Any links or direction would hugley appreciated.
You cannot do what you want. Watch the recordings on the rental, then return it, while recording new stuff to the new unit. Thread moved to appropriate forum.
You could transfer your existing recordings (in SD) to a DVD recorder or HTPC, or in HD to the Hauppauge HD PVR (HTPC application).

If your old rental was a Motorola, you might also be able to transfer the recordings to a PC via Firewire, depending in whether they were 5C protected by Shaw or not. Won't work if it was a Pace box.
