There was some strong tropo early this morning. CKCO was clearer than usual so CIII may have been affected as well. The tropo fell off pretty sharply at about 9:30am.

Some channels available in London & area have switched to digital, such as CIII 6.1 (Paris), CHCH 51.1, TVO 18.1, with the rest switching probably tonight and into tomorrow. My question is, although it is not mandated by the CRTC, will the rest of these channels that will be switching to digital be available in OTA HD (720p or 1080i)?

So far, TVO and CIII (Global, which I can't pickup here in London) are broadcasting in 1080i, but CHCH 51.1 is broadcasting in 480i. Does anyone know if CHCH 51.1 will begin broadcasting at 1080i in the future? I believe CHCH 11.1 out of Hamilton is broadcasting in 1080i.

I'm assuming CFMT 48.1, CJMT 20.1, Citytv 31.1 (woodstock), CTS 14.1, CTV 13.1 (Kitchener) will all be broadcasting in 1080i when they switch to digital by tomorrow or September 1st.

Is the day we see the completion tomorrow (31 Aug.) or Sept 1. ?

Hoping I can still pick up CTV from Kitchener (13.1) and wishing 6.1 ups it's power.

Probably Omni 1, Omni 2 & CTS will probably be in 480i.

CIII-HD has been strong enough for both of my TVs to identify the channel. This was around midnight.

Even though CHCH-DT2 is still 480i. The picture quality seems to have improved.

Current strengths.

TVO 30 SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) tv 2>100%
SunTV 28 SNR tv2> 100%
CHCH 22 SNR tv2> 69 - 73 %
CIII 0 - 8 SNR tv2> 0% (around midnight has been around 8 - 15 SNR 12 - 35 %, just strong enough to ID CIII)

Read ya l8r,
Al

At 11:56 pm CFPL CH.10 analog died and then appeared on digital 10.1 . I`m 32 miles from the transmitter and I`m picking it up full strength off the back-side of a GH10n3 . I take it they have some power . Smokes SunTv`s signal .

CFPL 10.1 London (CTV Two) is broadcasting OTA in beautiful HD, including proper PSIP!

Since CIII (Global, Paris, ON) channel 6.1 switched to digital @ 4kW ERP last week, I get nothing.

Now tonight, CKCO (CTV, Kitchener, ON) channel 13 switched to digital @ 12kW ERP. I was able to tune into CKCO analogue 13 with some snow on the screen. I rescanned a couple times tonight, and I get absolutely nothing on channel 13.1.

I cannot pickup both Global and CKCO in London.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Makes me think that these broadcasters, which are the BDUs, want everyone to pickup a subscription to their over-priced services.

I lost CKCO 13 as well. Had a snowy but watchable picture before.

I have also lost CKCO.

I had a somewhat snowy picture, but it was very watchable. I'm not happy, I assumed I would be for sure able to get CKCO. CIII I wasn't expecting but losing CKCO bugs me.

Otherwise, CFPL looks stunning in 1080i. TMZ looks awesome.

It certainly looks like CFPL is doing a nice job. Caught a few minutes of The Tonight Show and the picture was excellent.

I am getting 13.1 CKCO with no problem. My small, unamplified antenna is in the attic and we are in one of the lower spots at an elevation of 823 feet so I would expect that it should be readily available. I got excited this morning when 6.1 showed up but it faded away after a few minutes.

I also have ctv 13.1 no problem, but did have to rotate to 60 degrees to pull it in.

I see that OMNI 1 and 2 are off the air, but don't have them yet on 48? Anyone else pick them up yet?

Anyone know the status of OMNI-1 and 2 (RF69 and RF20) this AM? I notice the analog channels have disappeared.

Oh, I see radarboy beat me to the punch! LOL!

I see CKCO @ 13.1 and even picked up Global @ 6.1 from Paris for the first time.
Also CFPL @ 10.1. (TVO SUN and CHCH from Alvistion all there too) No OMNI1 or OMNI2 at all...

A rescan also picked up FOX 2.1 out of Detriot and something called ION 23.1, 23.2 and 23.3. Also a couple of other US channels but the signal to week to pick the up.

Sounds like tropo this morning......I hope it was not tropo that picked up Global @6.1and CKCO @13.1  ....I guess time will tell.

CTS 14.1 @ 1080i HD with PSIP
CJMT / OMNI2 20.1 @ 1080i HD
CFMT / OMNI1 48.1 @ 1080i HD
are all now broadcasting in digital.

Oh, wow! Can't wait to get home and see the OMNI's. I guess that means that (aside from the CBC) our only hold-out now is CityTV :)

CKCO was coming in _GREAT_ this morning -- I hope it continues too. It has always been one of my most clear stations (since fixing the interference problem and getting a real antenna).

CIII was coming in with the usual drops, pixelation and skips.

Everything except CITY and the two CBCs are now in glorious HD. Still no CKCO here. I expect CITY will be HD by early tomorrow.

Anyone else having problems getting OMNI-1 (RF48)? Reception here used to be excellent on analog 69, but spotty this AM on 48. Technical problems? Lower ERP?
