I have just had Telus satellite installed on Thursday. Last night I came home to check to see if I programmed the pvr correctly for a certain show and I had a message on the screen telling me I had to unplug the reciever for a minute to restore satellite sevice. When I called Telus this morning and asked about the problem, I was told it is a computer and needs to be reset after an update that may have been sent down. Never had this problem when I was with Bell before and wondering if anyone else has run into this. Oh, and it did not record the show I wanted.

No, you normally shouldn't have to reboot but stuff happens sometimes.

I believe there is a message asking you to reset your receiver if the Hard Disk Drive diagnostics determines if there might be an error somewhere.
From time to time the receiver runs something similar to a Check Disk routine to scan your hard drive.

Generally there is no cause for alarm but if it re-appears again, I would call and report the exact message to them.

This is assuming you had that message at all. It's my best guess given what I read.
