Hello, I have a sony kp46wt520 rptv and just got a Avia disc. The Tv is hdmi and component connections. Should I calibrate thru the hdmi connection or the component connection?

I have been told that it is best to use the component connection on these tvs because it is analog were as if you use the hdmi connection, the tv must convert the digital signal back to analog?

is this true?/ what is the best recommendation for a connection for this tv?

Some TVs do a good job of D->A conversion, some don't. Similarly, some players to a good job of D->A conversion; some don't. (OPPO's OPDV971H, for example, had an excellent DVI output but a second-rate analogue output.)

Try both inputs, see which one provides the best image and calibrate that input. Calibrate any other inputs you expect to use; don't bother with the ones you won't use.

As mentioned above, you should calibrate each input that you intend to use. When properly calibrated, there should be little or no difference between HDMI and CV. See the following FAQ on the topic - lots of hints:
