: No picture output to TV - reset required

Last night I turned on the TV and didn't have a picture from the TELUS box (or the usual screen saver). The audio was there, however. After trying all options and checking my cable connections I reset the box by holding the power button down for several seconds. After it re-started the picture came back and my recordings seem fine. I reported this to TELUS tech support and was told this is a known issue and they are trying to gather more information so they can determine the cause. Anyone else have this problem? This is a major concern for me if it were to happen during a sporting event - other TV shows I'll survive ;)

There is a similar thread that went nowhere in the Bell forum. Hopefully it's not the same issue, as I'm told the TELUS PVR is the same as the Bell 9241 box.

These STBs are a lot like computers and whenever something is not right, the first thing to try is a cold reboot (or the warm one you did). This has been discussed often on this forum. We recommend that you perform a cold reboot of the STB once a month at night before going to bed, so that all is ready again the next day (provided you're not recording at the time).

Thanks for the reply 57. I didn't see any other postings about this issue so I thought I'd start a new thread to see if others have experienced it and for others who may experience it down the road.

What is the procedure for a cold re-boot?

Thanks again.

Turn the unit off, unplug it for a minute, plug it back in. Sometimes there are issues that are not resolved with a warm reboot that are resolved with a cold one.

Got it, thanks.
