I found an UNSUPPORTED way to do an upgrade from Win 7 RC.

You are still legally required to have the correct previous version (Vista or XP) to do this.

Microsoft shared a way to do the upgrade to Win 7 RC to Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade via Blog... but it is unsupported, however it works. Find it here (http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos/how_upgrade_windows_7_final_rc).

Now, if you are like me, and don't want to do a clean install yet... you can downgrade your Win 7 RC version. Follow this guide (http://www.unawave.de/installation/downgrade-en.html?lang=EN) Win 7 RC is of course Win 7 Ultimate... I have the family pack of Win 7 Home Premium... so I downgraded my version to upgrade it. :)

It worked like a charm for me. I'm now running my legal version of Win 7 Home Premium, but I didn't have to re-install all my software. I may have to do it down the road anyway... but for now, I'm good!

Use at your own risk... IT IS UNSUPPORTED and NEVER do an OS install without backing up your software.
