Telus optik HD TV has only 1 HD stream. So you can only record 1 HD program and then can watch only STD Tv at the same time, YUK!

Depends on where you live. My home has 3HD plus 1SD

Yes, and Telus said it is updating new areas which could include mine, ya sure! When????

I was clarifying what you said so people didn't assume that everywhere is 1hd/2sd. I know I wouldn't sign up that way.

It is true. If optik is in your location, you can't have Telus satellite.

Well that is very odd, to say the least.

So just to clarify, if Optik is available in your area, you CANNOT have Telus Sat but CAN have Bell TV.?

That makes no sense at all.

Why is that? Bell is seperate company from Telus. Telus just uses Bell equipment and maybe share the satellite. I'm not an expert, so that's all i know about it.

That's not true. In my area both Optik and Telus Satellite are available. And I have Telus Satellite installed no problem.

You got satellite when Optik was already available?

Hello all,
(Currently with Optik Tv 2HD/1 Sd feed (19.2 profile)

I am going switch to Telus Sat.. I have few quick questions if somebody could answer for me please?

Question :
----------

1) I assume PVR has Hdmi/Component connections?
Are there any known Hdmi issues? (hope not )
2) Is Bell/Telus Sat using Mpeg4 or still Mpeg 2?
3) how big is Hard drive on PVR / approx hrs of Rec time?

I know Mpeg 4 seems allow a lot more show to be records I think Compared to Mpeg 2.

I have so many House esp record along with other HD shows. but my current Cisco 430 still showing about 60% HD space free.. (sighs and I'm going lose all of them ))

4) Is the menu/Guild with Telus sat same as Bell?
Just Grey color? (my sister has Bell they pretty happy with it )
5) I assume they have 5.1 DD sound info on there guild?
(if is bell, I know my sisters dish does show this on her guild )
6) would I be able keep same channels I currently have with Optik Tv?
The reason I ask because I read that Bell has bit of different channel line up/packages then what Optik currently has. I've read some where on Digital forms, few ppl have had issues with this.?

7) is there much of price difference?

I have HAD it up to here with Optik. I've am passed pissed now with all these issues other issues. Yes I know no system is perfect. This is crazy. 4/5 Telus modems / Gone threw 2 PVR / now my Xbox optik not working.. and its my own 360 s 250 gig (black slim one) with extra cooler on it.

My Xbox now having black screen issues, Every seem fine, Menu show up, Guild, PVR listing, but I just get black screen. But my Pvr 430 is up/and running with no problem.
(I'm going post about xbox/optik issues in correct form )

I'm paying about 110-120 a month. I would gladly pay bit more if means more stable/ Better picture/ Better sound with Telus Sat.. Just as long its not same range as 160-170
I was paying for Shaw Digital and +$20 a month just rent HD box (Not even PVR )

1. HDMI & Component, both live at the same time.
2. Still using MPEG2 but the PVR will be MPEG4 compliant, switch will happen in about 12 to 18 months.
3. 30 Hours HD Recording time. Add an External Hard Drive and the sky is your limit.
4. Yes.
5. Yes.
6. 99% the same, a few different, not sure which.
7. No idea.

I would suggest reading the Bell TV Forum for specifics on the 9241 receiver.

CentaurChester,

Check with TELUS about which receivers they are using. The ones I've removed (upgrading customers to OptikTV) are like the PVR shown on the TELUS Satellite TV website. They don't have an HDMI connection. They have component for HD.

Telus Sat use the 9241 HD PVR, and the 6131 HD Receiver, both have HDMI.

Yes I just checked with Bell website and they show 9241 having HDMI and optical out. which I wanted to make sure it had..

Is the 6131 a newer or older box?

Thanks

It was released at the same time as the 9241.

It is a slightly dumbed down 6141, which had an OTA Tuner, not sure Telus ever had these.

These are the current Bell TV HD Receivers and although there is another model out there for a very few VIP Bell TV Customers, I do not expect any replacements in the foreseeable future.
