Anyone with a recent photo of the CISA and CKAL towers in Lethbridge? Preferably with a tight shot of the antenna bays.

I can rotate a view on bing maps of CKAL but that picture is out of date and would like a newer one.

Thanks :)

Antennas are top to bottom as follows:
CISA (7)
CHLB 95.5 FM
HAM (defunct)
CJIL (17) (really hard to see)

Thanks. I could see the antenna under CHLB but I thought it was CJIL.

Imagine my surprise that it's a Ham radio antenna.

Do you know how old the tower is?

Am I inventing this in my mind, or has the third, middle broadcasting tower on the top of First Canadian Place appeared since yesterday? (Keep in mind that CITY 57.1 is now temporarily broadcasting from FCP before both the OMNIs and CITY move to the CN tower.)

On Ridge Road West in Grimsby, Ontario at the coordinates 43.183545,-79.572243 there is a very high tower. What is that used for? I never even knew that Grimsby had a TV transmitter or maybe its for the cell phone networks. Maybe it's Mr. Hepburn's from DXInfo Centre (http://www.dxinfocentre.com/)?

It would be hard to say exactly, but judging by the antenna, it is probably VHF communications, or just maybe low power FM broadcast.

I don't see evidence of high power electrical service (usually 3 phase), so it is not a major broadcaster if it is broadcast. In fact the electic service apparently feeding the site (whichever direction it is on - Ridgr Rd, or Sawmill Rd), is fed from the street LV (120/240) grid, so likely is not much, so probably not a broadcast transmitter even.

Actually, the "third" tower you see was the first tower to be installed at FCP many years ago. This was the original CKO-FM (news station now defunct) tower. I belive that tower is now used for two-way radio communications.

Check out Posts #27 and 29 in this thread for some photos of FCP from 2 years ago. :)

Is this the antenna? http://www.dxinfocentre.com/etc/antenna-VU.jpg
Yes this is Hepburn's 70 foot tower. He's got a new rig setup, that logs all automatically, any new Digital TV stations that it can pickup... see here: http://dxinfocentre.com/hepburn/logs/dxtv.htm

If I remember correctly there is a small shack at the base of the tower. Is that also Hepburn's? Also to all the locals who know the area this tower is located behind the 1st North Grimsby Scout hut and beside Beamer Falls.

Not accoding to the Google Street view. The tower has one lone vertical 6 bay or so folded dipole at the top, and a couple microwave antenna lower down on the sides. Then again, that was probably taken 2008/2009

Yes that is not Hepburn's tower... looks like a Police Radio repeater.

This is where his tower is located,

Maybe that's a relay tower for the fire department?
And it looks like Hepburn's tower is near some big trees. I'm surprised it does so good.

re: Rogers Tower, Winnipeg;
Always wondered why they built that tower down in the flood plain so close to the floodway gates?
Was thinking a few months ago CBC could rent the top for their UHF TV antenna rather than installing it downtown. The extra 200ft would give a bit more range. Oh well...

Cham re:rogers tower.
My understanding as to why they moved to the floodway is connected to when CITI 92.1 cut its power from 360kw to 160kw and finally to 100kw(their current power). With the lower(relatively because 100kw is still a lot of wattage) power output they needed to move their antenna closer to the city to maintain urban signal quality. To bad CTV didn't relocate their dtv antenna to this tower and improve their signal in Winnipeg.
