The general answer to this is that it's impossible. Telus (and Bell) both have a policy that they will not activate handsets not on their network. Some may say they have done it in the past, but any rep who happens to set up a foreign handset in their system can lose their job over it.

The only way to get a Palm Pre up here in Canada is by moving over to Bell Mobility and buying one of theirs. AFAIK, Telus has no intentions of bringing the Pre over.

Just so you know, you get the same cell coverage on Bell and Telus because they share wireless networks. All you have to worry about is the cost differential and your current contract.

My contract is good ..I dont care of the cost differentiel ,I'll buy it if possible, but I need to stay with telus...

But it they dont want to active it ,I'll not buy it ..

It is very much possible, I personally have a Verizon device on Telus - however I don't anticipate discussing the technique would be looked upon kindly here.

With all the attention on HSPA now (including the media's assertion that Telus/Bell have now upgraded their "tired CDMA" network), I wonder if Pre's launch will be affected? I have heard about an HSPA version, but haven't seen it yet.

It certainly isn't making any big waves with respect to market share. (http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idCNL368717620091103?rpc=44)
