Since news has gone HD, we all get a great look at the anchors' faces. Sometimes, the improved view is not an improvement. I have noticed the last few days while watching The National, it looks like Peter Mansbridge has something on his bottom lip. This is not the typical cold sore. It looks like he has been eating chocolate ice cream, and hasn't used a napkin before he goes on-air. Has anyone else noticed this?
I know this is not a typical discussion, but I keep staring at this every night!
This evening I thought it was something on his upper lip. I'm not sure if it's some sort of video noise or what...

Since I got HDTV, last December, I've often noticed some video has problems. I recall one show on PBS, where 3 men were discussing an issue. They combined 3 shots, to have them all in the picture at the same time. Two of them looked fine, but the other looked as though there was something wrong with his face. I've noticed similar on other occasions. I have no idea as to the cause though.
This is pure speculation but I know an older guy that got some sort of skin treatment for his face. Result was his skin was red and especially the line around his lips was very pronounced. It is supposed to make you look younger (after the redness goes away). Maybe more TV friendly. ;) Or he just got too much sun and Hair and Makeup did their best.

Last night a number of marks were clearly visable above his upper lip. Mr. Mansbridge seens to have a number of problems with his face and cold sores on his lips. Few attempts are made to cover up with make-up.

With all the bad news he has to report, I think he's just trying to keep a stiff upper lip...

I thought he was just covering up a mustache? So when he goes out in public people would not recognize him. Just my thoughts.
"Cesar Romero did this in Batman, when he played the Joker because he refused to shave his mustache."
