Can you port your BellAliant home phone number to a Bell Mobility cell phone?

Thanks

Yep - it's called an intermodal port and it's done all the time.

The "trick" is to call the new service provider and to not cancel your existing provider.

Yeah I already have both service providers (BellAliant for home phone, Bell Mobility for the cell) I just want to cancel my landline and transfer the number to my cell which is currently active under another number.

You will need to activate a new mobile account to be able to do the number port. I would suggest a pre-paid account and then simply do a number swap between the mobile accounts.

You will not be able to port your landline number to an active mobile account.

So a 3 way swap, they don't make in easy do they.:(

Not a three way swap, more like two two-way swaps :)

If you have an old mobile phone, or have access to an inactive one, it will be much less expensive.

go to a Bell store (or Downeast store if you are in the Maritimes) and port your landline number to a new prepaid account.

Once active, and port goes through, do a mobile number swap (not ESN swap) between the two mobile accounts.

Verify with the store as I have not worked for Bell in almost three years, and process may have changed.

Can I open a prepaid account on a phone that was not originally a prepaid, it was on a monthly plan.

As long as the phone is no longer active, and is not on negative file for non-payment or reported lost or stolen you will be okay.
