: Telus TV vs. Shaw

those....people...at Telus (well, I know what I'd like to call 'em, but that sort of language is definitely a no-no here in the forum) offered me a package deal...
BUT... I told 'em I already had a Shaw Package and was relatively happy with that (bearing in mind that per-channel ordering isn't gonna happen anytime soon in Canada. It's all tiers, or groupings, or clumps, whatever you wanna call it), anyways back to the main point of this thread. The sales--being- on the
other end didn't hang up but kept on going. Look, I know it's your job, but
I've had Shaw for 12 years with not a whole lotta complaints. My mom has Shaw for everything, 'cept telephone. No complains here. Telus service on Internet-not very good. Y'see, we're using that OTHER computer platform,
the one that ends in X, and Telus...well, they don't seem to have heard of it, and can't really help us with it. For example, you can't use an Airport Wireless Express with a Telus Gateway because they are both wireless and will fight with each other. That was my mom's doing, not mine. Who got called out to fix it? I'll give you two guesses, and the first one doesn't count. I was on the phone to Telus tech support for a loong time. Given the choice between a root canada, watching paint dry or being on hold with Telus, I'd go for the root canal. It'd be over faster, something productive would have been done, and my mouth would have been numb. After talking to Telus the 2 things were my posterior and my brain....We had to reset that Wireless Gateway box many a time....and now Telus wants to offer me their TV
at $51 a month, vs Shaw's $60 a month. I know that Shaw will help me out no problem. Once my cable box quit working, and Shaw fixed it. Turns out, it was still registered under my mom's account, even though I'd been paying the bills for about 7 years. Anyways, they got the rascal working fine. You wanna book a service call with Shaw? No problem. Telus.... welll know.....
and don't get me started on Telus' cellphone service.

Anways is Telus TV a good deal, or not. No matter what, I'm switching to Shaw Phone tomorrow. Ta-Ta Telus. I just got charged for each message I got stored with voicemail. That's 10 cents to store each message for the month. Now, I don't mind if a company raises its fees for a good and justifiable reason (way better and faster service) but to start dime-ing me to death every month, plus local access fee, plus 9-1-1 fee plus this plus that..
and I was late paying the bill once....so now they charged me $13 for an NSF cheque, plus put this month's and last month's bill on one big bill
so I had to call 'em to raise my monthly withdrawal limit-by 50 cents.

just asking
sorry if I got way way off topic
the hour is late, and I'm tired

One thing I like about Shaw Cable Internet is that they maintain the email addresses, photoshare and web sites for just $1.99/month when we head for Mexico. This is really cheap.

Seems like you have already made up your mind. I'd stay with Shaw if you "dislike" Telus that much. Me on the other hand, haven't had any problems with Telus...that's why I'm going with Telus Sat. TV. Good Luck.;)
