It's also possible to pick the right bale(sp?) and still not find the clue. It was so small.

I'm glad it was a non-elimination round because of this.

The hay bale thing seems dumb to me because its just sheer luck with the odds of about 25 to 1 that you pick the right bale.
I find many of the roadblocks have an element of "luck". How about when they had to search for a snowman in the piles of snow in Dubai?

^^^ If I remember correctly, that was a detour and not a roadblack. They had the option of building a snowman.

I agree that luck plays a role in many of the competitions but in this case luck made the whole difference.

When luck can take you from first to last because one team can get it on bale #1 while another can take 25 or 30 then it's not a competition, its a lottery.

I agree. I was hoping that they would have made it into a puzzle to solve - some pattern perhaps that would lead you to the right bale. Or perhaps clues in the bales without the flag. Something other than sheer luck as you point out.

I would think they could divide the fields up into sections of say 10 bales each with each section having one clue. That way you at least limit how long each team could take. Not great but a little better!

Many many tasks though are similar. Search in the sand, find the lady with teh red scarf that matches yours, etc. Luck is part of the game. If everything became an actual "challenge" as described, it would be boring as certain teams would always win out. This adds randomness to the equation and allows a team in last to go to first, stay the same, etc. I like it.

IMO :)

Due to the difficulty that we saw in season 6(? 9? whatever -they unrolled but did not spot the flag IIRC) I was pleased that it was non-elimination. Cheyne was an @ss to make Meghan do this task withou so much as a peep of an offer to do it. Meghan did an awesome job (or at least that is how it appeared)

Searching for 7 out of 186 could have made for an all-nighter.

I think the whole point of this task is to wear all the teams out...both physically and mentally...as even the good team's seem to implode on this one.

Not really surprised that the `trotters struggled on a puzzle like task. Taking a 4 hour penalty was a bad idea. Also, when you work with another team, you should be working together.

That being said, I think the brother team would have been better off telling the answer and burying the married couple.

It was the best way to get into the final 3 and the `trotters are a weaker team.

Now, will it bite them in the butt?

Oh man were the trotters dumb!

Once you knew F was the first letter, there was 24 combinations!

Jeesh

...and you had to know it was actually a word...if the brothers were gonna lie about working togeather then will give the F. If you gonna lie go all out.

I guess he missed the class when they taught combinatorics. But really - 24 combinations would take what - 30 minutes to blast through? And if he applied a little common sense, he could have reduced the number even more. He just wasn't organized, and got flustered. Oh well - need to have brains and brawn to win.

Why didn't the other trotter take a stab at it? They must have been exhausted--4 hours is a long time to wait when you have only 4 letters to unscramble. Meghan got it on the second try--it wasn't that hard.

Why are Mika and Canaan still in the poll? Should be Brian and Ericka :)

I was hoping for the Globe Trotters to at least make it into the final, but, this was the second time that they (he) had major difficulty with a fairly simple task, although knowing the answer when watching it on TV sure make it seem easy enough.

Sam/Dan, what can I say. Jerks, but then again, it is a lot of money. As mentioned, in all fairness, he did provide a valid clue that should have made it a lot easier. If he really wanted to screw them over he could have lied and given a false clue. Regardless, he made a promise and did not follow through so I hope they do not win.

Ericka is annoying, so I hope they don't win either.

Although the editing led you to believe the two made a deal. Sam/Dan are one of the most spiteful, petty teams to have played on the AR. Zero class, zero ethics. If I hear them squeal "shut-up" like little schoolgirls one more time, I'll freak!

I was so hoping the Rabbi would say no because of the broken arm on the golum.

I agree...how is a broken arm ok???

Anyway...as far as the Big Easy goes...it looks to me like he may have a grade 4 education.

Was he not the same guy that couldn't tell time in an earlier challenge and got flustered.

I don't think he could spell to be honest...he was hovering over the table when the guy was stamping yes...and anyone can read upside down.

I just hope the brothers have a melt down...they are extremely annoying.

I too was very disappointed in the acceptance of the broken golum. I looked at the time reminaing in the show and figured they were going to be safe. Very disappointing.

I don't think he could spell to be honest

He filled out the rest of the form so I'm sure he could read and write, I just don't think he was the sharpest tool in the shed.
