Looking to purchase either the Panny 46"G10 or Panasonic 46"S1. What are peoples thought about this? Is the G10 that much better than the S1 series? Hopefully prices of these models will go down a little in the next month or so. Appreciate anyone's imput on this.

According to some expert, the custom mode is the best way to get a nice picture (best than THX). Custom mode is the same thing on S1 and G10. Personally, I'm going with the 58S1.

You can see that the S1 is considered mid-range while the G10/G15 is considered high-end. I was considering the S14 from Costco but that appears to be yet another step down.

I got a 50" S1, I love it, like absolutely love it,

huge upgrade compared to my older Samsung, if it can get significantly better than what I'm watching now, I'd be really impressed

He was referring to a review where during a professional calibration a better picture was able to be tweaked better in custom mode as opposed to THX mode.

Same here. I got mine back in April and could not be happier.
I also have a PZ85U. The PQ is better on the 09 but the build and OSD is better on the 08.

Just bought the 46S1 on Sunday and this thing is huge ;). The PQ is awesome. Picture mode is set to standard and all the settings at 50.

I think all the midrange models (S and below) are missing features like their good video processing chip, or the ability to input a PC VGA input. High end models (G and up) are where they put the features that come standard on other brands of TV.

After a week of looking at the 50 S1 in the box, I hooked it up yesterday and all I say is WOW. I can't believe the real estate this tv provides compared the 27" Gaoo ( 13+ yrs old and going strong) it replaced.

Bell is coming over on Wednesday to hook up the HD. I can only imagine how much better my tv will become....

I am interested in the G series because I need the analog audio out for my tuner. The S series does not have this feature.

Hello timespace. Could you please elaborate more on you needing the analog audio out for your tuner. What does this exactly mean and how do you benefit according to your set up. I'm looking for a Panasonic Plasma for my brother and I'm debating between the S and G series for him.

Thanks

Probably means that he needs analogue audio outputs on the TV, to send audio to an AVR or other device that doesn't have digital audio input connections. (timespace hasn't been to the site in over a month)
