: Which BELL Receiver Should I Get?

Oh wow, I didn't realize the remote was not a UHF remote. I think I will just forget about my upstairs television.

Does Bell charge for a 2nd receiver (other than the initial equipment cost)? If they don't charge for the extra receiver I could do it that way, but it still would not give me the ability to watch pre-recorded shows. I'll likely just not bother. Maybe someday I'll buy a different PVR, but the reason I switched was to gain a better PVR. I think overall it is going to be better, but nothing seems perfect in this world (even though it could be a lot of the time).

My RG6 lines are practically new. I'm hoping they can just use the same lines so that I don't have new holes drilled or any mess throughout the house while they put in all new wiring. These RG6 lines are new as of last month. I was having signal problems with ShawDirect and replaced the wires myself. Shaw came and found that it was a bad LNB and replaced it. It cleared up the problem. It would be a shame to throw out brand new RG6 cables.

You could get a Dish Network IR-to-UHF PRO Remote Control Upgrade Kit. They retail for about $50 US. Another solution would be to get an IR/RF universal remote control that includes an IR repeater. All-in-One had a cheap model, not sure what is currently available. URC and Harmony also have solutions but they are pricey. There are also some fairly cheap IR repeaters available.

Well that gave me an idea. If I had one of those IR/RF universal remote control repeaters I could also operate my DVD recorder and guess what, that machine has a coax out on it. So I would have no need to buy a RF modulator. I could use the DVD recorder to watch TV as my PVR would be plugged into the DVD recorder via s-video.

Thanks for the tip. The Source likely carries that device too.

FunkyTown, you may have an issue with your DVDR. On these devices the inputs are usually straight flow through. If you input with S-Video, you have to output with the same. Meaning it won't convert and output to the coax.

(first post, great forum!)

I'm not certain if mine works like that. I guess I will have to do some tests. Thanks for the heads up.
