Note that not everyone of AMC HD movies are HD, some are still upsampled SD version (sometimes even with the non-linear stretch that we endured for the last couple of weeks).

The guide for the SD channel says it has "Sky Riders", the HD channel says it has "Reign of Fire", yet both are "Sky Riders". Oh, and the HD channel is so stretched it looks like it's through a peephole.

Even though it's a little off-topic, over the last couple of weeks the number of times the guide says one thing but it's actually showing another is too many to count. Spike and movie channels like AMC and EA2 have been the worst.

Someone remind me why I'm paying even more now for this?

The guide that AMC HD uses is for AMC Canada which as far as I can tell does not exist (you can find references to in on AMC schedule page). AMC SD channel uses the standard AMC schedule which is correct.

Well it looks like they have the real AMC HD feed as I've noticed a few movies in actual HD and not stretched while flicking over to AMC HD. Now if they could just get the correct guide data as most of the listings don't match.

agreed it does look like the real mccoy finally ., now if they can just do away with the 4 minutes of commercial breaks every ten minutes ..

Kelly's heroes was on earlier. It was stretched SD, but Escape for Alcatraz is HD

I watched the Sunday airing of Outbreak. It was stretched SD till 7PM or so, the it switched to HD

v8rumble, are you watching on Shaw Cable or Shaw DIrect? Shaw Cable has the full time HD channel now, but Shaw Direct may not.

I've got Shaw Cable and this afternoon instead of RamBo II on AMCHD they were running Halloween V on both AMC(53) and AMC HD (225). The TV shaw cablebox 'grid' said Rambo II., then Demolition Man came on in stretchovision HD ., so I call Shaw support on this and unfortunately my call person had NO idea what I was talking and/or complaining about and I refused to let this go so after being on Hold for ten minutes she finally came back with:
1. TV guide has no idea that Shaw has come up with AMCHD listings and since they don't have any information for the grid they are just running channel 53 listings. For 6 weeks now??
2. Stretchovision? non anamorphic widescreen HD? Well what do you expect for all the movies that haven't been converted over to 1080 yet.. was her answer ..
Yeah Right ...

My earlier posts said that we had the real mccoy for HD now,, but his only appears to be 25% of the programing time..

Now that Shaw has the true AMC HD feed, they have nothing to do with some of the movies being 4:3 full screen just stretched to cover the 16:9 screen. This is being done by AMC themselves. Obviously AMC doesn't have some movies in true HD and are using stretchovision on some of them, just like A&E HD does constantly.

I have shaw cable. I figure not all the movies have been remastered in HD. They would be broadcasting the same few movies over and over.

Does anyone know if AMC HD follows AMC SD's "rules" in regards to horrible censorship, editing and commercials with their movies?

That really sucks if it does since they have great movies on there but I refuse to deal with that kind of butchering. If true, what HD channel with the "HD Plus" package would show uncensored unedited no commercial movies other than Encore Avenue HD?

Yup. Sanitized for the protection of sensitive viewers. Lots of "motherlover" edits when they're not chopping whole scenes.

It makes the movies unwatchable in my opinion. It's a shame too because they have some interesting movies. When Mad Men isn't on I have no use for the channel.

AMCHD does seem to sanitize the dialogue a bit much for my tastes.

To the fellow who blamed Shaw for the guide information, I believe TV Guide runs the iguide menu and I reckon they are the people to talk to. I've already sent them an e-mail kindly informing them that their information has been incorrect on this channel and gave them a few examples. Hopefully they will do something about it soon.

Yeah, I recorded 'The Godfather' the first weekend that TMC was available. Didn't even make it through the first scene with the guy asking the godfather for a favour before there was a very poor overdub of some innocuous 'swear' word with a voice that didn't even sound similar to the actor onscreen. Immediately deleted the recording and haven't gone back (nor will I).

I like the overdub of swears from movies that I already seen like Major League.

Has anyone else noticed the horrible closed captioning on the channel? Many lines display only black, no white text, and it's driving me nuts. This has happened on different movies. Not to mention there's many other captioning problems on other channels and those aren't making me too happy.

I like the fact that a** isn't a swear, but a**hole is a swear, censored by saying a**____ lol.

Christmas Vacation is not the same without calling him a sack of monkey s*** either. Oh well... thankfully I have the DVD.

It may be your HD converter to blame.. I have given up trying to receive CC with HD channels .. Sometimes it may work with component but NOT HDMI ...
