I see that there is a free preview from September 3-10 on channels 391-396. Are they not having HD channels this year channels 397 & 398, or will they add these channels on September 3.
And can anyone confirm that it will be $99 again this year?

I took the College Package. Yes, it's $99. For now, I only see in the guide the S. Carolina vs NC State game at 392 (thursday 7PM), Oregon vs Boise State at 392 (thursday 10PM) and N Texas vs Ball State (thursday 8PM). There's two HD channels (397 and 398) but no games scheduled yet. I don't see games for saturday yet.

Are the channels unlocked for everyone at this time due to the free preview? I would like to set up some timers but nothing appears on my guide (not even the channels in red).

I just called to check whether I'm still subscribed to the package, since I didn't get my usual letter saying that I'd be automatically renewed if I didn't call to cancel. (I am.)

At the same time, I asked why no HD games are listed in the guide for this weekend. I was told they won't be showing HD games until Sept. 11th.
I didn't bother pursuing it any further (even though the info on HD channels show them being in free preview mode.... so why have them in free preview if you're not showing anything on them? whatever.)

Bell has removed the ESPNU games from the guide for Sept.5th. Anyone know what's up?

Bell finally added two hd channels but there is a grand total of one hd game on the schedule today. Maryland vs Cal at 10 PM. What's the deal? This free preview is not enticing me to buy at all.

Early in the season we sometimes get screwed out of HD games because the HD channels share transponders with other sports packages. (ie: Channel 397 is on transponder 23, which it shares with Global West HD, PBS East HD, Nascar1HD, and MLB6HD. And MLB6HD is in use today.)
But that may or may not be the reason.
They do have both Monday games listed in HD.

On a positive note, we're getting a game from the new ESPN-produced SEC network right now. Better than the Sunbelt and MAC conference games we've gotten the past couple of years.

The HD broadcasts were a real mess this past weekend, just like the beginning of the season last year. As previously posted by someone else the HD game count seems to increase through the season and is consistent with Bells story of the shared transponder issue. This past weekend the sound on the HD broadcasts were poor with only the 2.0 signal being carried for parts of the games or worse missing entirely. The Cin/Rutgers game missed a load of HD commentary early on. I hope it improves the season goes along.

It looks like this Saturday's HD broadcasts are going to get booted by Nascar. At least for the night games.
The USC/OSU game is on the Score though, so that helps a bit.

They also removed Texas Tech/Houston.

And on top of that, on the SD version, the outer edges of the ticker are cut off.... which tells me it's actually a down-converted version of the HD feed.
(I found the actual SD version of the game online, and on that one the ticker wasn't cut off, and it had different scores displayed. So it was in fact a separate version.)

I see bell has added the SD games for saturday. No HD yet but I hope they show a full slate unlike the last two weeks.
